Check out Horslips, the first and best Irish "rock" band. Back in the 1970's they came up with the genre. There are several videos of King of the Faeries by Horslips. Must say that the Long Island banc, Fathom, makes some great Celtic rock. Album titled "Celtic Rocks" has a version of KoF.

@hazzystan I agree that bully tactics were used on Scotland and it was not such a willing venture at first (until James united the crown under Scottish rule) but Ireland was a different story. Read up on the Tudor conquest (or reconquest because of Henry II earlier attempt) of Ireland. Look up the Statutes of Kilkenny and that were enacted after forceful invasion. Read about The flight of the earls, Desmond Rebellions, Nine years war and the plantation system. Take over is a very correct term

I remember Waylander. Played a gig with them years ago in the corner house near Lurgan,, hallow'ween night. , the door man wouldn't let me into begin with We used their kit. Hughes and Kettner amps if I remember. I had to leave to play a bit of smooth jazzy fingerstyle somewhere else and from from memory Waylander had an onstage punch-up. Are there any origionals left?
