I've literally watched hundreds and hundreds of tennis footage, as I'm sure most of the people on here have, and this is the BEST angle I've ever seen. I watch this video at least once a month. Wish we could get more footage like this

Totally agree. One of my biggest complaints with televised tennis is that they put the camera at such a high angle --- you get no real feel for the pace or the spin.

This is cool to see it, but I would go nuts having to watch televised matches like this. They do cut to this angle sometimes on ESPN, but you don't get the same court coverage with the high angle.

+Brad Depp I've often wondered this as well. The only explanation I can think of is advertising, they can fit a whole lot more billboards and brand names into the shot if it's recorded from higher up. I much prefer this view though.

+al furn true, but considering that stan peaked at a relatively old age, and even won french open now, it should also be possible for dimitrov to break through some point in his career. stan, he had the game all the time, but his mental toughness came with beating or even getting close to beating novak at grand slams. now he is a thread in every grand slam he plays. dimitrov could be the same, maybe.

Man from this video you can really see Wawrinka's beautiful groundstrokes. I mean Dimitrov's groundstroke are high class and beautiful as well, however, I like how Wawrinka's racket gets under the ball and all he has to do is just swing through and up and it will just land anywhere in the court. Textbook techniques.

As some other viewers, I think it´s a better view angle than the ones usually broadcasted. I have the feeling it´s probably a generalised opinion, at least for people who play tennis (and are real fans), since it gives a greater appreciation of the techniques, shots and styles at play. Why do TV channels sistematically avoid such a view?!

Jarl I think tv pictures try to/have to show the baseline of the far court too so the viewers can see whether the ball lands in or out. you cannot see this clearly from this angle. I do agree, however, that this view is brilliant for spectators to see. maybe a better mix of high and low camera angles would keep everyone happy?

Great angle, definitely allows you to get a better appreciation for their style of play…hurts me to say this but Dimitrov's footwork isn't as good as I once thought. He still hits well and cleanly but you get the feeling that if he got into a slightly better position, a lot of those rally shots could be turned into forcing shots.

You know, the play here is really good, really consistent, and technically spot on. And yet, I can't differentiate the 'style' of play here from the both of them because every ground stoke looks identical. If you look at juniors in N.A. they all look the same. I miss the different styles of play, the creativity and spontaneity this game once had. Now, it's all about being efficient, consistent and technical. Appreciate that fact, but in the long run, it's hurting this game...

I agree, the angle is beautiful and so many on the net have been saying this with the advent of posting amateur filming of tennis matches online. So I hope word finally gets out to the Tennis TV producers that this is how the fans want to see much of the match. I realize you probably can't show the entire match from this angle, but try to offer this shot more of the time. You really get a better sense of the speed, spin, and excitement of the game. Plus, this is how rec players "see" it.

@rounick, I noticed that too, the typical TV angle hides the heavy topspin and makes it look like players are blasting straight through the ball. Even the sound made at the point of contact is much different here. It's much easier to hear the violent brushing up action created by their strokes. It isn't the pace that blows me away as much as the combination of pace and topspin applied to their "rally" ball. Their margin is huge, topspin is lifting each shot well above the net.

Great angle! Wish I had Grigor's forehand and Stan's backhand.

I also love the view. When I started playing tennis in the early 60's the only ones using a two-handed backhand were little tykes that found the racket too heavy. But there was one guy from Australia (I think he still commentates) who hit with both hands on each side. Wore a glove on his left hand. It still seems strange to me to see a guy 6'2, 185 lbs without an ounce of fat using a two-hand backhand.
