Verse 1
You’re officially welcome to grab your crotches
Synchronize your watches and pour us a couple scotches
People still as statues can’t catch you, turn pockets empty
If they’re packed with plenty move some to ones lacking any
while I take a crack at hacking the bank to jack em to cover high debts
You’re screening floating bullets with a butterfly net, if there’s any screaming
pause it and cut out sound, deposit the slugs underground
I’m positive that we don’t fuck around
no we go scooping up the diesel that’s leaking a sinking tanker
forever stuck at anchor like beetles get stuck in amber
halted like the thaw of the iceberg that shoulda sank her
halted right beside the temperature spike and the spread of cancer
and all my peoples’ engagements and babies my friends are making
We quit getting lamer, days quit getting later, life quits being labor, quick-
you should come through to our party, dude bring your crew bring your an army
youth is inside of the heart, the future can never harm me
We’re never tardy (freeze, freeze, freeze)
Late or early don’t worry we’ll wait cause we’re in no hurry to see the pearly gates
I sit outside and watch the pigeon shit and tiny airplanes hanging in the sky and then I
hit a McCartney show and trip off how his arm is superglued to his guitar and then I
enjoy the lovely view and stand there for a month or two, my headphones looping Love Me Do on repeat
Paul might not die if we try to wall off this diorama, we’ll buy all the time we want and then spend it all to
Move this crowd-to join as converts to the church of blessed concerts and then conjure up some conversation
Yes, I’m proud-my country is my heart and so in every combination we all rep a common nation
That is how-I know that all we lepers and we shepherds join together now in holy congregation, everybody
Stop right now!
Bridge
I want to hear the church bells ring
I want to see the fog roll in
I don’t mind the muddy water
I don’t mind the ocean wind
Show me I’m alive right now
Even if you gotta prick this skin
Open up your eyes (x4)
Verse 2
Some days I throw my hands up like this shit right here is hopeless
but today I throw my hands up like this shit right here’s the dopest
I’ll never sew my family’s holes up saying hocus pocus
So I focus love on what is whole and chase my magnum opus
There’s so much more life before I leave this skin behind me
Right now I’m feeling finer than Aliya in the 90s
Yeah, today I’m feeling firmly like my faith could never burn me
like I’m apt to move that mountain just by glaring at it sternly
Then San Francisco used to seem bigger than Jupiter
[drum a bar]
From the view of an atom, the human body’s a universe
[drum a bar]
how impossibly big it be (1-2-3-4-) this symmetry
this brutality (2-2-3-4) and beauty and synergy
and beyond what we’ll live to see, I know nothing limit me
just take everything ever, and we are that times infinity

    K. So here's my thoughts. I just went back and watched all of the Tiny Glowing Screen parts so far, and now I'm attempting to piece together a story from them. I know the three parts are pretty straightforward, but I want to throw in my take on it. Part one was about our current modern society. How privileged and ignorant we were, distracted by shiny products and trivial things. In this era of modern technology, we gained accessibility, but we also lost something. We prided being able to show our friends some concert we went to instead of enjoying the experience for ourselves. We tapped on screens instead of making meaningful connections with other people. Part two was about the insignificance of ourselves. Our actions don't matter in the long run. We put so much effort into everything we do, but in the end it doesn't even matter. We care so much about the smallest things but we don't see what really matters. We don't know anything. (CONTINUED IN REPLY)

(CONTINUED) Part two continued: There is so much we don't know about the world, so much we will never know, and yet we make decisions and judgements about it all the time without a second thought. We make choices based on the small glimpse of the world we can see. But our thoughts and feelings are our way of making sense of everything. We care about these things because to us, they do matter. We are a tiny mass of insignificants on this tiny rock flying through space, with only eachother to depend on. To us, we are eachother's everything. Part three: We've only got one life to live, so we've gotta choose to live it to the fullest. Do everything, take risks, be adventurous, you've got nothing to lose. It's because of the fact you are small and insignificant that you can have fun and enjoy yourself, there's no pressure to hurry, take your time. Stop and relish those moments of quiet. But don't slow to a crawl just waiting for a cause to follow. (CONTINUED IN REPLY)

  • @seabb

    @seabb

    8 жыл бұрын

Part three continued: There's so much more to be discovered, so don't limit yourself. Instead of focusing on your flaws, focus on what you believe and do the best you can to enjoy life. Sometimes we felt insignificant, but today we are bigger than the world. Like everything ever times infinity. So. That was way longer than I had anticipated. Congratulations if you took the time to read all that. Certainly wasn't worth your time, or the hour it took me to write all that. So TL;DR, My thoughts on Tiny Glowing Screens is that it's about the transitional period between hating (for lack of a better term) the modernized, ignorant society we live in, realizing our own insignificance and worth, and coming to the conclusion to focus on enjoying life. (Side note: it's currently 4am where I live and I'm ridiculously tired, so please excuse me for any typos or incoherence, I may or may not have fallen asleep multiple times while typing this.)

Count myself truly lucky to have seen Watsky in Cardiff on tour where he and Camila performed all 3 parts of Tiny glowing screens back to back. Also got to meet the man himself after. For such an epic performer (i mean that, live he's 50% more awesome) he's was astoundingly humble to speak to. Hope he continues to release fantastic music, and I hope to once again in the future attend the Chuch of blessed concerts with rev. Watsky presiding!

You don't come back with a gentle tap. You come back with a slap and a middle finger to the sky. You come back with a Mickey Mouse chainsaw, break that door. In. Knock our eyeballs. Out. Because anyone can Scream and shout, but that is not what you're all about. You're tripping it and flipping it and by God you're ripping it to shreds. Paint the room red, with the flow. Because you're back. My God, you're back. Now let's start the show.

+Grant McCarty Thanks. Yeah I like writing "rhythmically". Couldn't rap if my life depended on it, though. Artists like Watsky inspire me.... Waaaait a second. Is this really the KZread comment section? I thought I was gonna get neutered in here, hehe.

I think it is "times infinity," but it could also be just "ex infinity," because in mathematical terms, "x" can mean all possible numbers, and in Watsky's terms, that possible number is infinity. Just a thought.
