hi how was the result ? should we cut the vine or just only let one water mellon on one vine but dont cut the vine ?

I've heard that using unclean rusty tools to cut could cause some disease problems.

How do u get some many female flowers. I put ,down 7 can new and only have 2 female flowers and the vines are huge

They will flower primarily male flowers in the beginning week or so, after that you should start seeing more and more female flowers. If not than chances are they need more nutrient and could use some fertilizer.

I had no success with hand pollination. Naturally pollination has been successful. As far as pruning I need not. I let them run free. Some of my biggest watermelons came out of weeds and unattended. Sir Lucifer The Great

A few inches from each watermelon you saved was a flower which would create another watermelon. I'm curious why you clipped away so many flowers for the sake of only 1 watermelon per vine. It's my understanding that pruning is only pinching out the shoots called "suckers" that have no flowers on them and won't be producing fruit. "Suckers" draw the energy from the plant and the juice from the fruit which is why they are called "suckers". Are you attempting to limit the quantity of watermelons you'll be able to harvest?
