I have a money tree,, what kind of nutrients and water type should I use?

I prefer the bottom up because the plant takes only what it needs. Therefore I like using nursery pots inside decorative pots. What I find odd is that stores make it difficult to repot plants using nursery pots because you can’t always find the right sizes. So I’m testing a snake plant in a pot that just has one center drain. 😬

I use the 1st method but it causes some of my succulent plants' leaves got the brown spots and they will spread all over the leaves if I continue watering like this. So I ask the merchant and she tells me that it's because of overwatering. So I need to water less and not care whether the water comes out of the hole at the bottom. Do u have any experience to sort out this?
