It's the first day of Spring in Canberra, Australia. Forecast frost in a couple of days but I'm watering my newly potted succulents and propagations.

    Hi Liz ❤️ Over the winter, I was using a liquid kelp that had an NPK Of 0-0-1. My Plants loved it! I basically was using it as a soil conditioner because my soil was very hydrophobic. Over the summer I bought a fish and kelp fertilizer with NPK of 2-3-1 and I only used it once or twice on just a few plants and their roots disintegrated! I used it as directed, I didn’t add any extra to the water. I was so disappointed. I’m sticking to my 0-0-1 liquid kelp soil conditioner! I am so happy for you that spring has sprung💚🌵💚

    So much i have learnt form you Liz. You are practical and have wisdom than knowledge. The sea weed solution made a difference to the succulents that I have as i was happily murdering them off initially and the rest the mealy bugs finished the job. Loved the lithops. Thank u for the vdo. Just as the rains stop we wl have a growing season so thats when i shall be dng this. I got a spray pump too.

    Hi Liz, just discovered your Chanel and I’m in love with your videos and amazed by your collection. I’m a new succulent grower and not sure which soil mix to use. The weather is mostly hot and humid(28c-35c) for about 9-10 months of the year and frequent, sometimes daily rain fall during the other 2 months. Please advise whether I should use the tropical soil mix or master soil mix? I recently lost a lot of succulents as my current soil worked well for the hot months but not for the rainy months. Thank you so much in advance 😊

    I formulated my Master succulent soil mix for when we go away for 3 months in winter with no watering. Lately....we've been having a lot of rain in summer(humid) and now also in winter. I find that the Tropical soil mix have worked wonders in my succulents especially with the rain and cold we've been having for the last couple of years.

    Hi liz, your channel is wonderful, congratulations for your beautiful collection from Hungary! I am new to this hobby and trying to propagate exheveria leaves in an optimal way. In my experience e.perle von nurnberg has usually 2-3 heads from leaf propagation, but most of them keep only 1 after around a year. The ones which keep the multiple heads seem to grow very slowly, so I guess it would be a good idea to separate the heads in an early age. (Maybe this way i could have more plantlets, and they would also grow faster.) Do you think it is worth separating the babies? If yes, around what age - 6months/1year?

  • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

    @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

    Жыл бұрын

    Once they have roots....I usually separate them. If they're still small(1 to 2 cm size), I prefer to plant them in Coconut Peat. That way, they can be watered more often and grow quickly. When growing succulents...one can't put a time limit on the age as it all depends on the environment and fertilizer given to make them grow faster.

  • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

    @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

    Don't have an aquarium but if I do, I'd be throwing the water in the ground garden or lawn but not on potted succulents. Potted leafy succulents can be a bit sensitive.

    This brand is exclusively in Australia, but you can use kelp/seaweed base solution or even seaweed fertilizer used for fruit and vegetables. Just use a quarter of the required strength.

    Do you water all plants even though in dormancy? At 8:46, what are those "blue pudgey" plants? I have one but I cannot identify it. Pachyverium?? Where do you get that seaweed concoction?

  • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

    @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

    Most succulents growing times I find are not controlled by the season but by the temperature. I only use the season as a guide but in general, I water when they need watering, even when they're dormant. At 8:46, It's called Echeveria Laulindsayana. I buy the Liquid seaweed (Seasol) from my local hardware store. Thanks for watching and have agreat day! 🥰

    Bunnings but I just had a look and they don't have that particular model. I paid for mine 12 years ago for $50. I got the cheaper one (aqua system) for $12 but you'll have to pump it every minute. When it comes to pump sprayer, you really get what you pay for.
