Watercolour Koi Fish Tutorial
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Creations By Kendra: Watercolour Koi Fish
This step by step painting is very forgiving and a lot of fun. Recommended for kids 12 and up with some watercolour exposure. Perfect for an adult paint night. Happy painting!

I searched Koi watercolor painting and found this and just did my first ever watercolor in a sketchbook I bought to inspire me to start learning art. Mine didn't turn out nearly as nice as yours, but I had so much fun doing my own little koi. :D Thanks for this!

Thanks for sharing your story! I am so happy to have inspired you:) keep it up!
This is just lovely - watching this is so relaxing and I think I feel the courage to pick up my brushes once again, thank you so much. Last year I broke my fear of having a go at painting by going to an art class. It isn't practical work-wise now but this is an amazing alternative. Thank you for the time and care you put into your brilliant tutorials.

This painting tutorial is excellent! It also brings back some childhood memories of the koi I saw at Oahu airport in Hawaii. They were the size of dogs and so graceful! You really captured that here. Thank you for this.

I’m so glad! The best of luck. Watercolour can be intimidating, but you never get over that awkward feeling if you don’t paint. Don’t be afraid to make some mistakes! Mistakes help you learn. Mistakes help all of us learn.

Do you let the water dry or settle a bit before you apply paint?
@kendramalcolm
2 ай бұрын
It depends on the layer. With the background I do not. That being said you don’t want to have any puddles of water in the page. If you’re trying to get the watercolour to bleed together, you want your page to be damp, but not soaking wet. If you want crisp edges or more defined shapes, you want to let your page dry.

I’d use cold for this, but either would work.
I loved watching your tutorial and learnt a lot. Please can I ask you to consider not using music as you talk. The music and your voice are in conflict with one another. I wanted to focus on you talking but the music was very distracting

@@kendramalcolm thank you so much... 🥰
very useful video but I have a question. when I was painting I added water then the paint so it "bleeds" outwards and mixes with the other paint but it didn't it just remained pretty much in the same spot as when I applied the paint. I don't think it is because the page is too dry as I tested this and added a lot, it might be because the paint is not concentrated enough or my paper absorbs the water too quickly. (sorry i wrote so much)
@kendramalcolm
3 жыл бұрын
I have seen this happen before. It could be a lot of things. Some paint brands don't take to water as well as others. The quality of the paper can play a role in this too. Most likely though, is that there was too much paint on the brush (not watered down enough) so it got kind of stuck. The more water in your paint the more it should blend in with the water on the page. Using a large brush helps with this because it can hold a lot of watery paint. I hope this helps!

My art not perfect how to be perfect

I don’t think anyone ever feels like their art is perfect. All we can do is try to be slightly better than we were the day, week, month or even year before. Keep pushing yourself and just be the best you can be! And enjoy art. Always enjoy!
