Watercolor Pouring Cherry Blossoms with hand painted finishes

Watercolor Pouring Cherry Blossoms with hand painted finish. These flowers are strong yet beautiful, hardy yet elegant. So precious... Hiking, I saw on the hillside what looked like low cotton growing wild, as I came closer was delighted to find these little cherry blossoms growing on their raggedy branches. These flowers are also called a Flowering Tea Tree.
-learn by observation, you can learn so much by watching how the brush is held, the brush strokes, the paint poured, and the colors applied.

    So beautiful! Thus is the first time I’ve seen watercolour pouring. I live it and can’t wait to try it. Maybe one day I could create something beautiful too. Is the quality of the paper as key as it is in normal watercolour painting?

    Hi Hazel, yes it is very important due to the amount of water used. My favorites are 140 # Winsor and Newton Professional Cold Press Paper or Arches Cold Press.

    What a wonderful, lovely technique! The softness effect of the colour is awesome. The water spray adds the effect. When I use the mask , while removing it peels the paper off. What can be done? Mesmerizing painting. Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you so much! Sorry for the delayed response, I use the Winsor and Newton Colourless Masking fluid and make sure it dries 100% after application, both the masking fluid and any paint to paper has to be completely dry. If it continues to tear it could be the paper you are using, I prefer 100% cotton paper to work on.

    This is the most soothing art I have seen :) Amazing and the results are stunning! I have noticed in many of your pieces you brush a clear liquid from a glass/crystal dish on to your paper before applying water...do you mind saying what the liquid is? I think it appears to behave like a friskit...a resist, is that correct? Thank you for sharing, it is a pleasant high point of my day to watch!

    Hello and thank you for your thoughtful comment, made my day! Yes I use Winsor and Newton Colourless Masking Fluid, I apply with the end of my brush, allow to dry completely and then paint. Once my painting is dry I can then remove it just like friskit.

    Love it. Question…with so much wet media…..how do you keep paper from super buckling and or to ensure it dries flat? What paper do you use or recommend? Do you use 100% cotton paper?

  • @watercolorpour

    @watercolorpour

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you, yes I use 100% cotton professional paper - either Arches or Winsor and Newton Cold or Hot Press. Sometimes Fabriano Soft Press. I do not remove the tape until it’s 100% dry. Hope this helps

    Hi it’s me again. I just ruined yet another brush using it to apply masking fluid; this time a brush with an acqua handle. The fluid solidifies on the brush. How do you manage? This is a major issue for me. 😢

  • @watercolorpour

    @watercolorpour

    9 ай бұрын

    I am sorry to hear your brush was ruined. I do not use the brush part but the end of the brush handle. The Aqua handle brushes are acrylic and with the angled end make it useful for applying. Then once dry it peels right off the smooth acrylic.

    With Tubes (need to mix a lot to remove any little paint clumps) Pans (I add some drops to the pan to pre wet it and then mix into water, no clumps) so I prefer pans over tubes but use both. I also use Peerless Liquid watercolors which are very pigmented so a few drops mixed with water and it’s ready to pour.

    I use Colourless masking fluid by Winsor and Newton applied with the end of my paint brush. Using a brush with an aqua handle is best as the angled end makes it quite an effective tool.
