Re Chamomile pronunciation… similar to how you would normally say mile as in walk a mile. It belongs to the daisy family indeed. Popular in teas and essential oils. I love watching painting out of the Flower Guide. I have it and love it

It is a pretty little painting, unfortunately it does not resemble the image in the book, or real chamomile flowers. I would recommend using a very watery light grey for the details or shadows on the white petals. To truly make the flowers look like chamomile flowers and not look like striated blue and white geranium petals. The blue is too intense and not watered down enough, it contrasts and stands out too much against the off white paper. Which is why I recommend using a very watery light grey that will make the petals stand out and look more white compared to the light grey. Also the petals should be much more squat, and short, so that the flowers do not look like shasta daisies. And the painting should have a lot more wiry stems with lots of little chamomile flowers to truly resemble how real chamomile flowers grow and look. I would also recommend a more blue green color for the stems and leaves, and not the yellow green, if you are trying to make your painting look like real chamomile flowers. If you had followed through with mixing your favorite yellow green color with the blue color, the stems and leaves would have been closer to the actual color of chamomile stems and leaves. Sometimes our favorite color is not the best choice. And we should listen to our first inclinations. White flowers are a lot trickier to get right on off white paper, than colored flowers. But fortunately the painting looks nice even if it is not a realistic interpretation of an actual chamomile plant. I did not have any luck growing chamomile this year either. And other people have it growing in their yards like weeds. I bought six starter plants from a local nursery and they all ended up dying.

Thank you for your input. The point of the painting wasn't to make it realistic. The paintings this month are just meant to get everyone painting 10 mins a day everyday. Quick loose interpretations of the pictures. We may do a more in depth flower for the last day this month. Thanks for watching!

Everyone is an art critic because it’s easier to judge someone else’s work than to do (and share) their own. Comments like this are not helpful and just make the commenter look bad. 😢 This was a lovely, very helpful video (the first I’ve watched on this channel), and I’ll be back for more! ❤️
