Watercolor misty street - painting depth wet on wet

Today I'm sharing a misty morning street painting. I really like how this one turned out. Lots of wet on wet and subtle values.

I'm just getting back into some watercolor and this is going to be very helpful as someone living in the US in Oregon. We get so much foggy but detailed buildings and it's beautiful, but having some idea of where to start when a lot of tutorials involve misty backgrounds with minimal detail is really nice.

Awesome!!! Thanks Eric for your time in teaching. You are doing it wonderfully, the comments you add are helping a lot. Amazing how you can render an interesting watercolor painting, in which eyes like to linger, out of a quite ordinary photo. Bravo!!!

Hi Eric. I looked out onto a very misty morning the other day and immediately thought, how could I paint this atmospheric scene. So may I say thankyou for answering my unspoken question so beautifully. I shall now attempt to re-create that image purely from my misty memory.

Eric, thank you for this. Yet again your commentary has helped me understand the value of light. One question on this painting, How did you get the writing on the red awning on the left? White gauche or negative painting or something else? It seemed to manifest itself quite early in the painting. The final glazing was a revelation to me. THose headlights really did glow.
