    As you have mentioned.. shapes and patterns that keep the eyes moving, odd numbers of things rather than even. Developing a “feel” for what looks right

    Thank you Jenna!!, truly a marvelous tut. I would love to see more of you loose floral arrangement such as this one. I have finally gotten all of my suggested materials, painting lots of leaves, trees and my family thinks I am a natural!!, lol. So enjoy watching anything of yours and some others…no one compares to you.

    It is so helpful to see how an artist actually uses their palette. So many tutorials the camera is just focussed on the page, you're lucky to have so many angles! Love it! I've been thinking I've been mixing wrong/am lazy because I never clean my palette and seeing you make that purple on top of the green was great! I struggle with composition so this is awesome thanks :)

My favorite part was definitely the movement of brush on paper and colors bursting in wow technique. I like how the three flowers were looking together as a piece of art. Surely a must watch video for anyone who wants to move forward in the field of art. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the awesome work Jenna and John :D

    You call it rule of 3 - I've always called it 'odd numbers' - never two, but 1, 3, 5, ect is fine. But I never knew why. The viewer looking for pairs, I never knew that, so thanks! (on rewatching, I see you do say 'odd numbers are good' :) ) Using color to draw the eye where you want it, that's a nifty trick I hadn't thought of, so again, thank you!

    This was a great tutorial Jenna! Two things I noticed in my own version: #1. I put the first flowers close to each other so there wasn't much room to add more colors in between. I think it's just because I didn't know what to expect but if I had watched one time through first I could have left room there. #2. When I start the brush in the center and go out my point is at the outside and not the inside. I keep trying to start the point on the inside and round off the outside of the petal but it doesn't come natural. If I start at the outside I can do a better job but the center isn't as clean. I know it just takes more practice. I just started back after a few month break so I'm not too worried, just thought I would share. Thanks for your videos!!

    OMGOODNESS! I don’t know what I expected, but you are just adorable... truly beautiful. I hadn’t seen your face at all until this video is why I was surprised. I just knew you have a nice voice and pretty hands. And, you’re also a great teacher. Well, now that I’ve sucked up to the teacher enough, I’ll get back to the video and shut up 🤐 😥😒😅. Well, you see, I’m a professional photographer, so I see a lot of faces and study faces. I know photogenic people, usually, when I see them, and I can see that you are photogenic. That doesn’t always make one beautiful, but in your case , you are. Also, just bc one is beautiful does not mean that one is photogenic. Anyway, that’s why I mentioned how pretty you are. My husband says I tell this to people too often , that I should mind my own business, but it’s something I would value knowing. 😂

    I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, Alisha, and I appreciate your feedback. I’ll keep composition in mind for future videos. There were moments where this was sped up because it was a composition focused video and I wasn’t actually teaching much of the flowers, so we sped it up to get to the composition talk.... sometimes we’ll speed things up because if we don’t, some vids would be literally close to an hour - so sometimes we have to make that decision, although we prefer not to... hope that clears it up for ya. Thanks for watching and supporting!

    This tutorial was tremendously helpful! Not to mention how quickly you made such an absolutely beautiful piece of art! Oh how I wish I was that skilled! You make it look so easy!!! I am an extreme beginner! I'm a new subbie! I'm hooked! I will be soaking up....pun intended.....as much watercolor instructions as you will give me. I totally connected with the way you teach! Hand lettering is another I'm trying to learn. They go so beautifully together. I have so many visions in my head! All I need is my hand to behave and do as the brain sees. Lol...where can I get my painty little paws on a Pantone card set? I'd really like to have one for so many things. Making jewelry is my experienced art. Ok...I'll quit chatting away here...just very excited to find you. Now I want to look for your books! A must have in my library! Thank you so much!

The Pantone Formula Guide can be found here( amzn.to/2VWHc9Y ), and just so you know, I link every supply I use in every video, so if you ever need paint, paper, brushes, anything -- if you want to see what I use, you can check out the description for all of those! I made it as easy as possible for you and linked them all there... Thank you for your excitement, for your love and support! I appreciate it! xoxo

    Hey there no I didn't mean anything in mean spirit.. maybe I didn't explain myself right I was just saying a lot of people that I watch on KZread other artists don't give the explanation of things let's say how to draw a star flower but you do and that's good for me as a beginner a lot of them just do what they do with no instruction so it's like almost copying their work I don't want to copy anyone's work I want to have my own style, lol that's if I get there 😊

    Very pretty! I love your videos! As someone commented below I'd like to see semi realistic florals. Hi Jenna. I did buy your watercolor book the other day. It's great!! Ok, so I am having a bit of a problem with pastel colors. If you buy a pastel watercolor in a tube it is opaque because they add white to it. If you take like a cad. red and water it down it is not really a pastel its a water colored down cad. red. Could you do a video on how to achieve pastel colors in watercolor while still remaining translucent. Thank you!!!

    My daughter is 13 and she watches you everyday. Thank you so much for making videos. She is very shy and she has really came out of her shell this year. I had one question my daughter wants me to buy these Winsor tube paints for her birthday. Is there a proper way to put them into the pans or should I not do that at all. Because that’s what she wants me to do,put the tube paints in the little squares. is that OK or am I going to ruin them thank you

  • @JennaRaineyChannel

    Hey Vincent! I’m so happy to heat your daughter is enjoying the videos and getting into watercolor! All the exact paints I use, just FYI, are linked in the description. As far as putting them into the pans, there’s no special way to do it, but she could do it herself if she wanted. What I do when I am getting fresh paint out, is I will pour the pigment on my palette, and I like to let it dry, then activate it with water when I am ready to paint. That will usually make the paint last longer, instead of going straight for fresh, wet paint out of the tube. I hope that helps! Happy birthday to your 13 year old!!

    I'm thinking maybe my brush is too small. My flowers dry out before I can utilize WOW so there are hard lines everywhere. By the time I'm putting in some stems, the petals are too dry to create that blooming effect even though I'm loading it with as much water as the brush can hold 🤷🏼‍♀️ Even so, it turned out great thank you for the tutorial!

  • @JennaRaineyChannel

    @JennaRaineyChannel

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Jane! It is literally a book FULL of different colors that are assigned numbers, so that designers and manufacturers and whoever else can be on the exact same page when it comes to coloring a particular piece. Colors on screen can vary depending on what screen you're looking at, so it's best to have a pantone book to know exactly what color you're going for... I hope that makes sense.
