What a cool collage technique for transferring the shape of the petal to the collage paper! As I watched you do that, I thought, what if I kept the tracing paper and painted it with watercolors, maybe even crinkling it, and using that as an alternate collage petal? You are a delightful and inspiring instructor. Thank you so much for sharing. All the best to you.

This is definitely a favorite video of yours that I have got to keep track of. So much great information to add to my artwork, & so many questions I have. #1 So when wetting inks as a medium, you don’t have to worry about protecting your good watercolor brushes like you do with oil pastels or masking fluid? #2 What is the difference between Soft Pastels & Oil Pastels? #3 Are Soft Pastels the same as Colored Chalk? I have used Ink as outlines in my watercolor paintings and recently oil pastels as your sparkle water technique in my watercolor paintings. I have used color pencils by themselves but not with watercolor. You have really blown my mind on what I can do & add to watercolor paintings. I am thinking 🤔 I’m becoming more a Multi Media artist now, even before watching this video. Yes, please do a sequel to more multi media techniques for watercolor paintings. And please do more videos on collage. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful information with us and teaching us by videos, online classes and through your Facebook group.

  • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber

You don't need to protect your brushes but you should keep them wet, if the ink dries on them it may stay put, so keep the brush wet and rinsed and clean it after. Soft pastels are like chalks, they will move with water and oil pastels are like wax crayons, waterproof. Soft pastels are a much more expensive version of chalk with proper stable artist's pigments, chalks are mostly chalk and colored dye. You may enjoy some of my watercolor pencils videos, have a look, I use them a lot with watercolor. I will do more next year including collage :-)

Thanks Michelle, As a mixed media artist recently come to watercolour I am keen to incorporate it into my other work and this video has given me much to try out. I also very much appreciate the explanation of the different papers, this has shed a lot of light. My original teacher encouraged us to buy hot press paper (she is a botanical painter) and I have now quite a lot of it but find it doesn't work well with a lot of the techniques I have been playing with. Now I know why and what I can now use it for. xoxo

Hello from Oregon! I would love to learn more techniques. I’ve used the term “mixed media” for so many things I like to do since it usually involves multiple mediums. 💡 ink for stamping is a stain so it might stand up to lots of water and scrubbing for effects. I could also put some in a pot to try with the nib of a pen for an experiment. Must try now. Thanks for the ideas, 🦜

Thank you this video I watched it at 400 am my time...I enjoyed every different type of drawing, i especially liked the charcoal segment.. due to i draw alot with HB pencil, so I decided to scroll a craft store to see about a very cheap charcol set so they had one for 5.00 $ and had also mixed media paper pad for under 10.00 hoping by end of the month if things look good I could get them...yeah✍!!!....my goal is to get your paint set in near future but everytime I save some money up something happens that the house needs it's literally like our house knows it's a pandemic and is stress breaking...lol....but I feel blessed Im lucking having a roof over our heads, i will never feel upset that things break....i always wish there was a art cooperative that people donated their unused art supplies and u could buy things at a very discounted price....🤔...I adore the colors of your paint set.., it's been a incredible financial journey this year due to my daughter grad highschool and the bits and things she needs to round out her experience of " remote learning👩‍🏫 "from home experiences instead of being in school.just trying to keep up her spirits... I was determined to atleast to get her the usually stuff like school year book and such, graduation gown...👩‍🎓 lol even tho were doing drives thru graduations in our city....our school trying to have normal things done for the kids even tho they had to shut down a few times... just thanks again for the great videos....mikelle newyork mom 🎨😷✌👋

QUESTION: 1. What kind of brush for washing out ink, and care. Why do you put your watercolors in small pots

You can use your watercolour brush but rinse straight away and don't allow the ink to dry on it. The watercolours are manufacturers samples 🙂

I have zero experience with charcoal. Do you already have a video about using charcoal?

I do Carol, I can't put links here, but there's a beginners guide in my Drawing Tips playlist, I think there may be another too. Put my name and the word charcoal in the youtube search bar and what you need should appear :-)

Thank you for the video! Its fantastic instruction for those just starting out, but I have to tell you. Your nails look really nice, however they are so sparkly, they very distracting to the instruction. I just thought you might want to know for future videos. I seriously don't mean to offend. I just thought you might want to know why some viewers may not be able to watch all the way through.

Michelle it's 2022 and I think you need to go back and edit this video. Your comment about Men not liking eye shadaw is liable to resurface and get you cancelled x

Ha, KZread videos can't be edited once up. I am aware men wear make up, being a teenager in the 80's and a long time Alice Cooper fan. People who 'cancel' KZreadrs over passing remarks should find a better use for their time don't you think ;-)
