The escapement is known as a Brocot Escapement or what most people call an open escapement. Clocks can be a pain in the butt however you made it look easy enough. I guess that you taking the time to do the drawings help you remember the system which is great where I can remember certain things and other things I can so that is why I take pictures. Plus my drawings suck. LOL. You are very talented Cheryl. Soldering and all. I suck at soldering. Before taking the caps off you should get into the habit of marking the caps so you get the right cap with the right barrel (some people scratch a "t" and the other with a "s". Also you might scratch on top of the cap and the side of the barrel. Once in a great while you might find one that is slightly distorted from possibly a spring breaking and not doing that you might have trouble putting the cap back on. It is good that you arent afraid to tackle the springs without a spring winder. I do it all the time. 400 day clocks you need to be careful or 31 days clocks. I love peanut butter myself. I think the open escapement with the rubies and the wild hands on the white porcelain sold me on this clock. Also the brass and glass, and a mercury pendulum. It just caught my eye. Luckily it made it through shipping. Two reasons for the drawings. Yes it helps my memory. I can't remember someone's name until I see it written down. Pecil and paper seems to be a direct route to my short term memory. Also I took 4 years of art in high school. I won some awards and enjoyed it. It has helped me as much as math class! I did not mark these barrels and caps because I keep them with the gears that go on that train, so I don't mix them. The antique American clockmakers sometimes used springs that didn't pass for the time side, on the strike side. So it's a good idea to keep them on the side they came on.

I love the idea that you show people to look over the movement and see just how it works and maybe why the clock strikes. Wow, I wonder how long that clock just set around, not running. I normally heat my cleaner to 35. It just seems like the perfect temp for me. Thanks for the shout-out and great job so far.

Two weeks of studying and trying to get that cuckoo quail movement right taught me the value of knowing how it works before you adjust anything. I'm betting this clock sat for 50 year. That oil was varnish or shellac, holding everything tight. I picked 40 C for this movement because of that. That's only 104 F. I'm pretty sure the water coming from the water heater is 120 F. At 5 minutes the lantern pinions were not as clean as I would like. Still playing around with the time and temp options to see what happens.

Hello I’ve got a GM Angem cuckoo clock movement from the 60s? Or so with a count wheel I have the time train figured out but there is a Cam that looks like a pac man I have never seen before do you have a email you could guide me through the process of putting the 4 parts back into the correct places?
