WATERAX Product Specialist Demonstrates the Melon Roll

Watch our product specialist, Alex, show us how to do a fire hose melon roll. A good way to pack up firehose when going from one fire to another.
Note: If your agency has a prescribed technique for rolling hose you should absolutely use it, but it’s always nice to know another quick & dirty method if you find yourself in a jam.

Definitely time consuming. It’s a common hose roll in Canada because they air lift out their hoses after the fire is out. It’s a tighter roll than the standard American butterfly hose roll. Because we actually hike everything in and out, it doesn’t have to be as tightly wrapped. And with the butterfly technique, there are loops on each hose that we can hang from hand tools over our back, and that also prevents the bouncing around of the hose that she mentioned at the end of the clip. You didn’t ask, but figured I’d share that info with you regardless.
