You told me you would try a video on water priming in 2 weeks...sure enough, you upload this video exactly when you said you would. Canadian Concrete Pumper is the real deal! In Poland we only prime it with water, gogles half filled with water and start pumping. Then 10 sec later honk the driver to start pouring concrete, works everytime

The most important part is that your pipes are cleaned. I always start pumping before they start to put concrete in the hopper.

It doesn’t matter what you prime the pump with. As long as it gets from point A (hopper) to point B (end of hose) that’s all that matters. As long as it’s done in a safe manner.

Getting lucky priming with it stroking all it takes is for the cylinders to load half way the you have water concrete water. Best way pump your water stop it so the open side piston is at the hopper fill the hopper past the agitator bar and pump on.

Same way I prefer to do it. I will say that I think we get away with a lot in our area due to the forgiving nature of our materials. Works well for these guys however, so I can’t say too much. 😁😁😁

I water prime as well but I don’t start pumping until the mud is above the agitator bar. I position the chute so that the concrete pushes the water up the cylinder first, I let the hopper get almost full then pump away at half volume.

Used to water prime a 52m R&F in British Columbia everyday, no oil in the hopper. No stroking when concrete is being poured in initially, would push the water right into the cylinder fill it up and go. The mixes are much better on that side of the country. I would never try that in Ontario 😂 Not even on a 20m lol

I’m not going to lie, I’ll occasionally throw a little oil in my prime port with the water when releasing the air in the oiler. There is something about it that works. I’ve done it when I hop in my coworkers 47. That is when he hasn’t restocked the slick pack.

@@canadianconcretepumper1979 it doesn’t mix with the water say like bentonite or slick. Kind of just sits at the top of that water. Similar to cooking pasta in a pot, boiling water then adding oil so the pasta doesn’t stick. All that oil rises to the top.

I tend to agree. I believe that using the prime-port (for those whom have them) allows for using less primer and contaminating less of the initial concrete which comes through the boom.

What an absolute chancer using just water. 😏 didn’t even stop svalve to allow concrete to push water up cylinder. All this is showing the young operators how to cut corners something you don’t do in our industry. And the old guy holding the flex best way to get his head blown off if it had of blocked . We try to encourage stand back when priming out

It’s one of the most hotly contested topics in pumping (along with water-washing versus sucking a sponge). These guys pump a ton of mud, and it works for them. That being said, I’ll probably stick to priming with my bentonite and/or kick start, but always good to see how others do things. Agreed, the “old guy” 😂😂😂 probably could have stayed away from that hose for few more seconds, but they also aren’t priming through at volume 10, and also do shut the pump off once that first bit of mud can be heard tinkling down the pipes. All that being said, 100% better just to stand away from that hose when priming through. It only takes that one time to change a life.

I’ve been in the industry 32 years and seen how easy it is to get in trouble with these machines. One of the main things in these days with younger operators is that the pumps will pump anything, years ago with old putzmiester if concrete was sh@t you would in reverse more than forward 😏😂
