Water Firing Hypercar with NASA Technology | Hyperion
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is the Hyperion XP-1... One of the most advanced cars ever built, it's powered by a hydrogen propulsion system which makes the car literally spits water from the exhaust. Also utilizes some of the most advanced technology ever added to a car, it can be charged in 5 minutes and has a range of over 1500km. The XP-1 can also reach 0-100kh/m in just 2.2 seconds and has a top speed of over 350km/h. Alex gives us a closer look at what is sure to be the coolest and most advanced cars ever.

Nice to see the hydrogen engine finally come to fruition. The patent for such an engine (using electrolysis) was registered in the 1970s IIRC, with a prototype existing at that time. However, the patent holder was forced to sell it to IIRC Shell Oil (through strongarm tactics) who buried it.

Not what this is. You're referring to a normal internal combustion engine running on hydrogen that is internally fueled which isn't really ideal with the power demands with electrolysis. The sound is actually just a series of internal turbine pumps that pump the hrdrogen round and the water created by it.
@robertchiarizia9463
Жыл бұрын
@@leewolf6434 sounds more like the vacuum stages of compression to me at the compressor. The pumps should be centrifugal or turbo nautilus design if high pressure. Those usually make a fast clicking sound. This sounds like a jet engine because it has a compressor section to suck bang and blow attached to a reduction gear box to transmit kinetic energy to a driveshaft.
@leewolf6434
Жыл бұрын
@@robertchiarizia9463 they don’t need compressors. The hydrogen is usually stored at 300bar. You can see the tanks at 5:57 there’s two large black ones. There’s actually regulators down the line to reduce the pressure but you still need the pumps to give a regular constant measured quantity to the unit. The hydrogen turbine is actually very similar to a super charger in design (two cylindrical blades that entwine) but there is others pumps and stuff on board aswell.
@robertchiarizia9463
Жыл бұрын
@@leewolf6434 do you understand the difference between a compressor and a compressor section of a jet engine? I’m a jet engine mechanic (A&P since 1999) a compressor and a compressor section are two entirely different things. You have to compress the air into the combustion chamber in order to create the kinetic energy potential when the fuel is added and ignited. Like how a diesel uses cylinder compression only to ignite the fuel. A jet engine uses two igniters at 50,000 volts to ignite the jet fuel in the combustion chamber when the Ng (compression) is at whatever that engine needs. There can be only several compressor blades, or their can be multiple stages of compression. A true turbine section uses a shaft that sends kinetic energy of the exhaust gasses back up a turbine driveshaft to impel the compressor stage to compress even higher Ng levels. The turbine and compressor section’s synergistically power one another. The problem with cars is that car engineers don’t have enough sense to have a twin turbo and wastegate system working in tandem with the supercharger. A supercharger is an inefficient way to compress air density compared to a compressor section on a jet engine. ICE are only 40% efficient. Jet engines are even up to 80% efficient. If they are not designing them the way I said, they need to learn how a jet engine works and power it with hydrogen using the jet engine as a model, not an ICE. It will just be more of the same shit different day if they just change the fuel to hydrogen. What they need to do is redesign how locomotion is achieved in ground vehicles.
@leewolf6434
Жыл бұрын
@@robertchiarizia9463 but it’s not a jet engine. It’s an electric car powered by a hydrogen generator. There is no combustion in this vehicle and the pump is for hydrogen no air. The air only gets involved after the electric has been harnessed to help bind the electron back to the hydrogen atom. The other pumps are for the deionised water that gets created in the process that also doubles up and a coolant system.
So VERY COOL!! Love the look 😮

This is so badass I can’t even think.. It looks and sounds like a spaceship and runs on hydrogen and solar?! 🤯

Why would you want your car to sound like a spaceship?

What an incredibly beautiful car. This is what you call futuristic styling for real. The technology is interesting but I don't know if it's practical yet. Great video again Blondie.

It is practical but not without the infrastructure of hydrogen pumps. I worked in London on 8 prototype hydrogen buses. The basics of it is pretty simple but the vehicles had a lot of reliability issues. In basic though it’s an electric car with electric motors, but instead of a battery pack you use a hydrogen generator to make electric on the go.

@@leewolf6434 that would be an electric car using fuel cells. This claims to combust the hydrogen to propel the car, right? **nvm, she just infers it but she doesn't know what she's taking about lol

@@brianramirez1772 technically these vehicles are Hybrids as they use an alternative mean to generate electric rather than having batteries. Yeah she’s really bad at explaining it.

It's very practical. But the u.s govt needs the money from oil to keep the economy afloat. The govt has already unalived a couple people making backyard cars out of hydrogen trying to show people

@@leewolf6434 it's gonna take governmental assistance to assure the infrastructure is properly spread in my opinion, you probably know more about that situation tho
super wow....for my eyes only.....super cool.
Those exhaust pipes sound like thunder. The car looks very very beautiful.
They need to improve the front, but besides that it looks amazing!

The front is weird. Fortunately I love it. I don't want them to change it at all.

It's great tho but I'm sure they'll polish it for another model.
True ART. Even if it never had an engine put in it. As a sculpture it's magnificent and with that glorious sound and such an amazing power source I think they have created something incredible
That was an amazingly awesome experience 😊
This just became my favorite car ever. Thank you for this moment. The way the engine sounds. I was born to work in a hyperion dealership lol!

It most likely won't come to fruition as with most concept cars, but what a cool project! I would absolutely feel proud and accomplished as hell to create such a beautiful piece of machinery

Maybe cause government won't allow it.. our economy and united states will collapse if Americans don't have to buy oil

Nice one beautiful sports car❤
Cool, the combination of beauty and technology and environment-friendliness🤩
Just saw 2 of them at the LA auto show, and they looked stunning!
Amazing Tech. ✅️
BTW, not sure if you guys noticed, the symbol of the car (noticeable when driving on the rims as well) is the symbole "water" from Chinese. Looks like 水 basically >|
Alex keeps driving super cars that can only be imagined by others. I mean this is a dream car for the future lads and Alex already drove one even before they are born. Wonderful 😂❤️
