I am amazed how much people get for stuff that doesn't work. Most probably just throw it away. I wonder if the price is held higher due to all the people on social media trying to find something to fix?. Regardless, I love watching people fix stuff.

Most people do not know that electrical components do not get damaged with water. It's only when electricity is applied to them while they are wet do the get damaged as they short out and things. If the Switch was turned off when it was dropped then it would be highly likely that there wouldn't be any damage to the components. But as you now know if water gets into the battery then it will mess up the circuit board that controls the voltage and charging. That circuit board will always have power going to it so if it gets wet then the board fails. But you now know that. But I thought I'd explain why. ;)

As you are probably aware by now, Please don't charge lipo's with 5volt it could explode !!, the rating is right there on the battery label "3.8v 3570mAh 13.6 Wh" Max charge of this type of battery would be 4.2volt not a lot of difference to 5volts but to a lipo it is. @@StezStixFix We all make silly mistakes, its how we learn and grow, just spend a lot myself on a switch ($100) and no joy, well I have managed to get the back light working, it turns on with blank screen no sound, CPU get warm so partial power up.

Sounds like you've been unlucky there. Odd that you get no sound and no picture if it's powering on. I am obviously not an expert, but perhaps the screen is faulty, and that it's stuck in a boot loop, or it has a blue screen (which you obviously won't be able to see if the screen is faulty). Or it isn't actually powering on, and there's a short somewhere that's warming up the CPU. Good luck anyway, hope you fix it! 😊

@@CrAzZyTheCodingBoss Not yet, You just reminded me about it, I will have to dig it out and give it another go, learnt more about them now so it maybe fixable (fingers crossed). I think StezStixFix did one with corrosion around the game card slot, this could be my issue too as I remember it having corrosion in places, I will have to look. Here is a tip. Remove the reflective sheets, and clean them with a soft cloth and then put them back. That stain is water residue. Use gloves. Finger prints are permanent

the lcd and digitiser do seperate you have to use a thin playing card and gently start at a corner and run it along nice fix mate shame about the marks but the price of lcds have come down now to about 23 pound

Yeah, they were a lot more when I made this video. I later managed to swap it out with one from another switch lite and got it looking as good as new. 👍

Top Tip:.......To get battery out... I use Zippo Lighter Fluid.... It works better than IPA. But IPA is OK if that's all you have at hand.

Got a switch lite for $20 that is water damaged, I plan try my best to fix it and this video will help alot

They go for £120 because they are working. Paying close to £90 for a water damaged one is way too much.

You did a great job! I just spilled juice o my Switch Lite and I'm terrified I may lose all my gaming progress. I don't even have that screwdriver to take it apart and dry it properly. I can hear the functions in the game, like the home button and such, but it's gotten hot and the screen won't show anything. Is there hope for me, you think? ☹️

Yes. If you can hear the nintendo switch but has no display you messed up the screen with juice damage. And if switch is getting hot, then you maybe have ruined the fan inside also.

What are you using to clean it? Also what type of tools to take it apart? My daughter dropped hers in the bathtub, and she said it shut off so she tried to turn it back on, she’s 6. Please help. Letting it dry for a couple days before we try to fix it. With water damage could just cleaning possibly fix it?

Yes, if you get to it early enough. I would suggest taking it apart as soon as possible. You will need a Triwing screwdriver (easily available on eBay etc) and a regular Philips screwdriver. You will also need some Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and some cotton buds (Q tips). Give everywhere a good soaking in the IPA, don't be afraid, as it is almost pure alcohol, it dries REALLY quickly. Forgot to mention, make sure you disconnect the battery once you're in there. Give the connector plug a tug and it will come away from the board. You can reconnect once you've finished cleaning it with the IPA.

get a little cheap 850d soldering station , some good soldering wire and good flux, then find a broken or faulty pcb board and practice. Also , get or make an extractor

Dog water bowl... I can assure you it was not in the dog water bowl... most likely the toilet.

why wouldn't they had included the charger and such? If they bought a new Switch that would had come it.

I dropped mine in the bathtub😭 I’m letting it air dry for a few days before sending it off to get fixed if it needs to be!

The only thing not working is the capture button but I can live without that😅 it seems to not be charging even though the charging icon appears is there anything I can do to fix that myself?

@@bbybrittneyy Good news that it comes on! If its not charging properly, ita likely that the battery had been damaged, so you'll probably need a new one. You can do that yourself, but it's difficult to get the battery out as the adhesive is very strong!

I had to take my wife's apart and reseat the battery it was doing the same thing. It was never dropped, wet, and rarely played when it happened.

An old video I know, but great to watch. Though I did wince whilst you were shoving 5v's down the mouth of that poor lipo! I am only recently looking through your older videos, so nice to be able to watch them all the way through without having to skip past your rap music. Nothing against your singing, just not a fan of rap. I am hoping you eventually stop adding it to your new videos, for me at least it turns an enjoyable video into an annoying video. Much prefer this format.

I will pay you to fix my girlfriends water damaged switch lite. Let me know if you're interested. It went through a full cycle in the washer machine, it was in a case but... Its dead
