    but all who follow Christ should be baptized, since it is commanded by our Lord. Water baptism pictures some wonderful spiritual truths. When we are saved, we are “buried” with Christ and “rise” to newness of life; our sins are “washed away,” and we are cleansed. It is Spirit baptism that saves us, but water baptism is our outward expression of that event. “All of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death[.] We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life”

    The Great Commission 16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him-but some of them doubted! 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[b] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

    Baptism is not for salvation. It is for saved people-those who have already received salvation by faith in Christ. John’s baptism was for the Jews and is completely different from the baptism commanded to the church in Matt. 28:18-20, Mark 16:16-18

  • @eminenceubah4083

    If you say the baptism of John is for the Jews, then was it not the same baptism, Philip did for the Ethiopian eunuch? And was it not the same John's baptism Paul(who was Saul) baptised? Go and understand the symbolism of Baptism and the meaning of Baptism. John Baptism was only introduced in the New testament, it was not in the Old testament. So it was for the New testament people to follow

  • @obehijames3841

    @obehijames3841

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@eminenceubah4083 No. Philip’s baptism was not the same as John’s baptism. John’s baptism was for repentance-to bring them back into right relationship with God (Matt. 3:6, 11; Mark 1:4-5; Luke 3:3). In other words, their baptism with John got them forgiveness of sins. Also, John’s baptism was part of the Old Testament because even though his story is covered in the New Testament Section of the Bible (divided by men for easy reading), the New Testament actually began after the death of Christ as says the scriptures in Hebrews 9:16-17: “In the case of a will (testament), it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it (the testator), BECAUSE A WILL IS IN FORCE ONLY WHEN SOMEBODY HAS DIED; IT NEVER TAKES EFFECT WHILE THE ONE WHO MADE IT IS LIVING” So John and his baptism was OT. In fact, I can clearly show you from scripture that there was a difference between John’s Baptism and the New Testament Baptism commanded by Jesus in Matt. 28:18-20. In Acts 19:1-7, we see that Paul met some ‘certain disciples’ and asked them about the Holy Spirit and they replied that they had not heard about the Holy Spirit. To which Paul asks “THEN WHAT BAPTISM DO YOU RECEIVE” (v. 3 NIV) and they replied “JOHN’S BAPTISM” Then Paul explains the difference between John’s baptism and the New Testament Baptism commanded by Christ 1. John truly baptized with a baptism of repentance. But the NT Baptism is not one of repentance but illustrates new birth. Repentance meant you went back to God meaning there was a previous relationship such as the Jews had with God. New Birth means the man in question died and then was reborn as an entirely new creature as the Church/Christian actually is (as illustrated by water baptism [Rom. 6:3-5]) 2 Cor. 5:17; Titus 3:5 2. John’s baptism was a baptism that looked forward to the Messiah coming…in the NIV of Acts 19:4, Paul told them “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. HE TOLD THE PEOPLE TO BELIEVE IN THE ONE COMING AFTER HIM, THAT IS, IN JESUS” The New Testament Baptism wasn’t looking forward to Jesus coming. It testified that He had already come and his works has been finished and perfected already. Then in Acts 19:5, it says WHEN THEY HEARD THIS, THEY WERE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS. 3. In John’s Baptism, the Jews were being baptized to get forgiveness. In Christ, we are baptized not to be saved or forgiven but because we are saved and our sins remitted. In the NT, to be baptized, one had to first be born again and then be baptized. I took out time to try to explain it as much as I could. But if you think differently, God will reveal even this unto you (Php 3:15)

    I got a big question. In John 20:17 Jesus tells his female disciple on the day he was resurrected from death, NOT to touch him because he had not....yes... *HAD NOT yet* ascended to his Father...... SO why do people keep using the thief on a cross as a support against the necessity of Water Baptism? *So where didJesus go the day he died* ? especially if after 3 days of being dead, he *HAD NOT* ascended to the Father. Why did Jesus teach that you CANNOT Enter the Kingdom of God without being born of the Water & the Spirit (John 3:5) ? Why does 1 John 5:6-8 talk of an AGREEMENT between the Water, the Spirit & the Blood?

    Water Baptism was done on the Cross, when Christ was pears on His side by a sword.. John 19:34(kjv) [34]But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. But though, on the Cross Christ Baptized all that Believed in Him with the water that came out of Him. But the Apostles were still using water to Baptized converts as a significant of what Christ has done on the Cross.. In the book of Acts of the Apostles, we saw alot of water Baptism that happened. Even the Apostle Paul was also Baptized by Ananias.. So, I think there should not be a debate on this subject of water Baptism. Whether the Church should do it or not.. Because water Baptism was also a practice of the first Church in the book of Acts. It not an Old Testament Law that should be fulfilled by Christ.. We are Baptized into Christ by Believing Him in our hearts and confessing or openly declaring His Lordship.. But there are significance of things He did that we must or should do.. For example, Laying on of hands on the sick in prayers.. You can't say, we shouldn't do that. Because there are some of us that don't lay hands on the sick, but just pray using our voices alone.. But that doesn't deny the fact of laying on of hands.. Now, what we called the Lord supper, was already done by Christ even before He went to the Cross. But He commanded us to keep doing it, as a remembrance of His death.. That you don't do the Lord supper which is called by Holy Communion by many, it doesn't denied the truth and light in it.. So, we should always judge our personal revelation with the revelation of scriptures. So that we will not called lies the truth and call truth a lie. I love us all. Peace

    Water Baptism Is An Act Of Faith Mark 16:16 'He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.' This scripture has led many to believe that water baptism is a part of salvation and that the born-again experience cannot be a reality without it. This same kind of thinking would make seeing Jesus a prerequisite for salvation, based on John 6:40. It is faith in the redemptive work of Christ that produces salvation - not our actions. However, James writes that faith without works is dead (Jas. 2:20). Faith alone saves, but saving faith is never alone; it must be acted upon. This is what Mark is referring to when he speaks of baptism. Water baptism is a command of Jesus and is the initial action taken upon believing. Mark's statement could be rendered, 'He who believes with saving faith (i.e. faith that produces actions) will be saved.' In this sense, water baptism is very important. It is an opportunity to act on your new profession of faith. Anyone who refuses to follow Jesus' command to receive water baptism, may be suspected of not really believing. Water baptism is a command, but keeping this command does not produce justification. Jesus administered forgiveness of sins without any mention of water baptism. Philip told the Ethiopian eunuch, who asked Philip to baptize him, that if he believed with all of his heart, he could be baptized (Acts 8:37). Philip used water baptism only after an individual believed. This is also how Mark used water baptism. from Andrew Wommack's Daily Devotional www.awmi.net/reading/daily-devotional

    Let us be careful. First and foremost with respect to the Scriptures Here is Jesus speaking. But note something carefully He never made mention of [Water] no where in any of the two Scriptures. Matthew 28:18-19 [18]And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [19]Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Mark 16:15-16 [15]And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16]He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. The question is which baptism is being referred to here the [Holy Spirit] Titus 3:5-7 [5]Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; [6]Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; [7]That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. We are now into the baptized in Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit and not John baptism with water. Matthew 3:11 [11]I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Acts 1:5 [5]For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. John 1:30-33 [30]This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. [31]And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. [32]And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. [33]And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. Ephesians 4:4-6 [4]There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; [5]One Lord, one faith, one baptism, [6]One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Charles became the King when his mother - Queen Elizabeth the Second - died. A coronation for William or George would be nonsense as neither of them are King.

    This is true, water baptism does not save. While the baptism in the spirit is the true one and bigger than the water baptism...so as Jesus is bigger than John who baptised him. Water baptism is just a sign that i repent unto Jesus

    Baptism doesn't save yes of course, but it's not canceled in the new testament. The apostles did it in Acts of apostles. So if you have opportunity to do it, do it. If you don't have no problem, but it's not done away.

    “Bow down to me and I will give you all the nations of the world” is also in the scriptures. We need to rightly divide. It’s not just about what is in the Bible but what it means.

    I sometimes see your exegesis with errors. We cannot rule out water baptism on an event on the cross. Because whoever Jesus forgives, he is forgiven indeed. Read Mark 10:38, Jesus himself saying we have to be baptized as as he himself was.

    Juses was born under the law, he has to go through all the custom at a Time .CHRIST MISSION WASN'T UNDER THE LAW, HIS MISSION IS SPIRITUAL. ALL LAW STARTS AND END WITH HIM. THAT IS WHY JUSES DIDN'T BAPTIZE ANYONE THE BAPTISM NOW IS SHOULD BE SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION WHICH INVOLVES NO HUMAN HANDS. NOT ALL THAT IS LAWFUL IS HELPFUL,meaning not all that is written in the scripture is applicable at a time some have out live their relevance. Scripture is not apliad in that manner, different action was carried out by different prophets by direction of God. Prophets came before John and they never instructed by God to baptize with water, God gave them different directions to save his people. I head him saying, that John didn't even believe in water baptism, and that is a gross error on his on path. Who is John? John is a messenger and not a lord unto himself.

Train yourself in godliness; [vs: 8] - [RSV] for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. [vs: 9] - [RSV] The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance.
