Water Aboard the 105 Series!

For no more than $300, I have water on board the 105 series! Today I'll walk through my space conservative, easy to install, DIY water setup. Including the 15L tank that uses the dead space between the rear seats and the drawers, the pump that mounts neatly where the jack used to sit, and the extendable water outlet with a really neat brass tap and optional hose outlet!
Find all that out and more in today's video.

    that is an awesome design you could tweak it with 2 Tees one vertical and one horizontal or 2 horizontal and 90 mm joiner between your fill up point and pump pick up point this would add strenght and solve car not being level. but love the Idea well done. thanks for posting

    Thanks Will for sharing this with us, bloody brilliant idea. In my dad's 76 I was thinking how we can use the dead space behind the drawers. I had the idea of putting two (15L) collapsible water tanks behind the seat. But only now found out they're rubbish. Apparently they blow up like puffer fish when filled with water 😂 I read some reviews when searching the capacity. Currently we have awning poles behind the seat.

    I think I missed it will probably watch the video again later. But is there a inlet to easily fill up the tank with water?

    @@madcat4563 definitely space that’s asking to be used, isn’t it? Hopefully you can sort something out! Yes there is a screw cap at one end that makes it really easy to fill up if you fold the back seat down!

    Thanks for sharing your ingenious thoughts. I’m thinking of doing this setup in my prado 90. Only change would be to add a “T “ which eliminates the level issue , i hope.

    Definitely a wise alteration. I would consider even using a proper tank of some description

    Appreciate the kind feedback 🙏 if I had my time again I’d squeak-proof the mounting of the PVC tank. I used rubber mat between the tank and the mounting brackets but it’s so noisy on rough roads

    Great use of wasted space. I think I will have to do something similar to increase my capacity. I plumbed my 60lt water bladder to the same panel as you but I used Gardena hose fittings for a filler, a breather and the outlet. The filler and outlet are on a T fitting. I can connect a garden hose to the outlet or the trigger gun directly to it. The hose allows me to have water at any distance I need it, 3m is enough for me. I blank the filler and breather after filling, for the outlet I use a hose fitting with a one way valve so it doesn't leak when it isn't connected. I use food grade hose but I think a normal garden hose would actually be fine. To fill I just remove the plugs fitted to the breather and filler and connect it to a hose.

    Hey Paul I’m currently getting all my parts together for a build for this for my hilux tub trailer, Agree with everything except Gotta say big no no for normal garden hose I made that mistake with my water can (plastic proquip) but filled it with the hose and omG took ages to get that horrible hose taste out of the can I brought a replacement can and filled it directly from the tap without the hose and difference is night n day… and before you say omg I used to drink from the hose as a kid but I’m my 30+ I can taste the hose like a bad chemical taste so I’m going food grade hose all the way Yeah hose out if your hosing out but never to fill or use as internal piping

    @blink1821986 you are right about the hose. I use hose fittings to connect for filling and to my tap but the hoses themself are clear food grade

    With the tanks/tubes, the fill point, what if you actually used a 'T' piece for the top tank at the fill point then add a '90°' on the bottom tank facing up to the 'T' so it makes a continuous loop tank. That'll eliminate the slope problem for the top tank.

  • @dcf476

    @dcf476

    Or even just plumb in a small 1" upright tube near that end instead of replacing the ends for a 'T' and 90°

    Definitely an easier option the 1" link, should be just a bit of tube and glue I think

    Like any tank, there’s treatments you can use. If I have rain water in there, like I will all the time as soon as we get some rain, it shouldn’t be a problem
