So, the reason there proportions for their bodies are so strange is because they were based on fashion sketches. You know, the really curvy body as a base and then the frilliest outfit you’ve ever seen. It’s a culture thing. So that’s why they’re like that. It’s literally just an art form, you don’t promise the same for anime - its just the art - the only part of young me that was influenced by media to do with my body, was western media and even then it wasn’t as much as it would be for children nowadays

Looking back, Winx Club's early seasons were peak early 2000s fashion. Tiny croptops, low waists, bell bottoms, bright colors, and only flattering if you're super skinny.

Yeah, this reminds me of this one time I found a review written years ago trashing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs just because its animation wasn't on the level of Beauty and the Beast. Yes, really, someone seriously went into a 1937 film expecting it to look exactly like a film from 1991. (There was another review comparing it to Spirited Away, which I find even more unfair)

Actually, the artstyle is like fashion sketches thats why they are skinny, and for the transfromations, The transformation you reacted to is not really the most revealing clothing they wore. And from Season 1 to 4 they try to make the Winx to grow up, thats why there is some mature themes.

Looking at the earlier episodes now, I’m glad the animation and art improved in later seasons. There are also movies for the series which are all canon if I remember correctly, so if you plan on watching all the content for the series, you might want to look up a guide for what order to watch everything in. The animated Netflix Original Winx Club is basically another universe, and has nothing to do with the original series. What live action ? There is none. Lots of content for the series though, and I don’t feel like typing a whole list out, so I’ll leave the research to you if you want to fall down the animated Winx Club hole for whatever reason.

@@brendan6555 Yeah, they did a soft reboot with a new studio after Season 10. Episodes are now 11 minutes long, but tend to chain into each other where the other left off. The first season of it (Season 11) is a VERY rough start, but the rest of the soft reboot is REALLY good.

That kinda defines a lot of shows like this I enjoyed as a kid. I'll admit, I was one of those people who liked both Butt Ugly Martians and Super Duper Sumos and considered them legitimately good. And when trying to figure out why, I'm pretty sure it was mostly because they had transformation sequences with cool background music in them. I was a sucker for that sort of thing back in the day.

@@SifaDukye Design-wise Darkar was great, but personality-wise he was so boring. He did nothing until EP26. He is genuinely one of my least favourite villains in the series because he is so forgettable.

I remember when I was a young beginner artist, this show's sense of fashion and concept is really good. This show was surprisingly influential to me, I even copied the art style for a few months and made me interested in clothes and character design. Character designing is still my thing.

The absolutely wildest thing about Winx Club is that this show went for over 8 seasons spanning nearly 20 years. And is still ongoing as a live action reboot. This show has so much lasting power.

Season 1 starts a little rocky and I personally would skip some of the episodes but the second half gets more interesting! My favorite is season 3, just overall, the stakes are the highest and the girls go through some difficult challenges + the animation is my favorite out of all seasons. Season 2 is good too but the middle is too slow for my liking. Nevertheless, hope you have fun with the show!

I will admit at 9 I binged this on youtube, the representations way before many other animations and was my first "transformations" in a show. The characters and worldbuilding are lowkey charming

Please don't compare a 2004 cartoon show to a 2021 "anime" show.. that kinda hurts :']

@@youtuber2646 OH come on, I liked it back when I was a kid, but it doesn't hold up well nowadays! I enjoyed watching up to the season they got their third transformation (was it enchantrix?), but after it got soo weird. I can't rewatch it cuz animation in early seasons is sooo bad and there is no excuse for it being early 2000s, which had shows with awesome animations like TMNT 2003, Justice League, Avatar etc. And let's not forget dialogue, it was so bad and Stella was like the worst character to exist, the guys might as well be statues, Bloom was basically MC syndrome personalized with barely any actual personality. Techna and Flora were pretty interesting and Muse was okayish.

I honestly think the art style looks really good (until season 8), most “girl oriented” shows had soft shapes and sparkles and childish bouncy characters. Not to say that the show doesn’t have sparkles or other cheesy magical tidbits, but I think they really struck a balance between the vibrant colors and transformations, and the sharp, interesting art style. Also I physically cringe when I hear the English dub, I grew up with the French dub. Like the line at 12:05, here she sounds so confident before failing to do anything, in the French dub, she’s more desperate and isn’t as confident, like she’s trying to use her status as a fairy to deter the witches since she knows she’s not powerful enough to do anything yet.

@@ladrok97 well I totally dropped winx club after watching 10 episodes of season 7, season 6 was decent actually in my opinion, animation felt flat though. Season 5 just had ugly combination of 3d animation and 2d animation switched every damn time. My biggest criticism of winx club is how they keep switching fairy transfromations every season and never use them again. My favorite designs is the season 3 transformation but that never came back. Would have been much more interesting if all these forms was more situational rather than just getting more power. Because then we would see so many different transformations no matter the season. Because it felt like they just introduced a new transformation but then they dropped it next season and moving on to the next transformation... which got old quick, predictable and boring, and I felt like, oh I wonder what transformation is going to replace this transformation next season oh boy I can't wait! and I will never ever ever again see the previous season transformation because it just got replaced with a new and "stronger transformation" that will defeat these new even more powerfull bad guys.

Hell was it not told that the season 3 transformation was basically "the fairy transformation" that you must get through intense training? Just having that dropped in later seasons over transformations gained from just one day or something feels cheap. I have no problems with more transformations, the problem is just how other transformations is just ignored later on.

Winx is Wings but with an X, you know, like fairy wings cut it some slack. this show is like 20 years old, it could buy is own alcohol in some countries

Techna and Musa (?Musica?) were my favorites as a kid, loved how they made music and technology into magic in the show, but yeah I forgot how…weird it was lol

So who remembers the live action remake? Also who wants to see them watch W.I.T.C.H?

Cracking up at this but omg I’m Italian and I grew up watching this in the original language-I think the problem was just that the English dub was really bad and made this infinitely stupider. The Italian dialogue is really fast from what I remember and so naturally it was difficult for the English VAs to reproduce-on top of not having very good VAs 💀 Sure, it was a product of the 2000s so it feels very dated when watching it now, but this shit was my CHILDHOOD and you can pry it from my COLD DEAD SPAGHETTI HANDS

It’s made by a lot of the same staff that were responsible for Magical Doremi, and Digimon (up to Tamers), So considering how fantastic both of those are, that’s probably how the talent on the Powerpuff anime is there. Oh also, Powerpuff’s transformation scenes were done by the same animator as Heartcatch Precure, as well

One great thing about the live action reboot is that it led to this sudden resurgence in the Winx fandom. But not for the reboot version. People have gone back to the original version because they just hated the reboot that much.

Trust me. U guys r judging too much. This show is really good. The story is amazing. The animation is not the best but IT WAS 2004. If u hate it so much u can watch the renastered ones. Nick remade the show using better animation in 2011

@@JannetFenix wasn't w.i.t.c.h released AFTER Winx? I remember seeing that one some years later, but I would be wrong if the comic was released first...

@@MrlspPrt they dont copy each other, the w.i.t.c.h it was realease in comics than got a show, and winx was frst a show and than got comics, they dont relate.

@@MrlspPrt okay so i just checked and wimx released faster - but work on the animation began earlier for witch. Plus it generally looks more polished so that would be reason.

As someone who is very pan, I don’t know if Winx club was my sexual awakening, but I do remember having cottage core lesbian fantasies about Flora.

NO STOP over the summer I think one or two years ago (I should’ve been 15; I turned 17 recently) I LITERALLY WATCHED ALL THE NICKLEODEON PREMIERES IN LIKE 2 DAYS. And then proceeded to watch the regular episodes. This show was my CHILDHOOD

I really love the original version of winx club. The original dubs and original three seasons- it's very nostalgic to me. I miss the first three seasons :( But wait until they see the last arc in the first season. 🌚

I do love the Winx Club series but I do questions some of the series episodes. I mean everything about this entire series of Winx Club which never made sense or explained in each Seasons. It's not just the story line in each episodes but Winx Club series characters that are unknown reason disappeared or never been explain what happen to them: 1. Season 2 Professor Avalon/ Fake Professor Avalon- After Bloom is kidnapped and Darkar turn her to Dark Bloom at the end of episode 24 the Fake Professor Avalon was never seen in the last two episodes for unknown reason. As for the real Professor Avalon he did appear in season 3 but never spoken or seen with any of the Winx Club girls. 2. Not much on Politea's backdtory except that she was once Daphne's friend before the ancestral witches curse Daphne's Sirenix and turn into a spirit without a body. Now Politea only appear in one episode and in the third Winx Club movie but that never explain more on Politea's past or why she betrayed Daphne in the first place before she too was curse by the ancestral witches. 3. Princess Krystal from Flora's home planet who appeared in some episodes back in season 5 but only appeared once in season 6 but never been seen again after that. I mean if Princess Krystal a new student at Alfea along with Roxy then at least try to get she seen more especially that we never got to see her fairy form tranformation. 4. I really don't like King Erendr because extremely strict, uptight, hotheaded, no nonsense man, placing duty above all else as it's shown in Season 5. What worst he appoint Diaspro as King's liaison as Queen Samar pointed out to him that he just made a terrible mistake as he should know that Diaspro is abusing the position just to come between Sky and Bloom. 5. Back in Season 3, Diaspro was suppose to be banished from Erakylon and Sky reassure everyone that they won't be seeing her again. However in season 5, Diaspro did return and the weirest thing is that she was seen in Erakylon instead not punished for her crimes. I really don't understand Sky's parents like have they turn deaf in and forgotten what Diaspro had done to their son Sky back in Season 3 or have they gone soft on her. I still don't understand what's the point of having Diaspro return in Season 6 as she only appear in two episodes and then disappear for the rest of the season. I really don't understand the point of this Diaspro being involved in "The Golden Auditorium" and "Vortex of Flames", I mean Diaspro team up with the Trix after they conqued Eraklyon Institute and I thought of the time that we get to see more of Diaspro in the entire season 6 but unfortunely that never really happen. Because after Diaspro throw Bloom to the fire pit and then she suddenly disappeared after the confront with Bloom's sister Daphne and never been seen after this which doesn't really make sense. If she was serious about becoming the Trix's allied then we would have seem more of Diaspro at Cloud Tower along with Lazuli,Jade and Rhody and the rest of the Cloud Tower Elite. 6. In Season 6 Lazuli,Jade and Rhody were once Fairies from Eraklyon Institute before they decided to enrole at Cloud Tower and join the Trix as the Cloud Tower Elite. But after the Trix were locked away in the Legendarium book, Head Mistress Griffin return to take over the school again which leave me a big question like were Lazuli,Jade and Rhody were accepted into Cloud Tower at the end of the episode or have they given up and return to Eraklyon Institute to become fairies again like Selena? Because I would liked to know what becomes of them since they're never seen again as none of the reappear in Season 8 episode 16. 7.Roy appear back in Season 5 and return in Season 6 but I've notice during the whole series that Roy has been competing with Nex for Aisha's affection. In episode 15 he was ignored by Aisha as she and Nex share little bonding while surfing to the island. I can't believe the other Winx Club and Specialist haven't notice this situation because if they have then they would have done something about this. What even more strange is that at end of episode 24 Roy hasn't appear in episodes 25 and 26 finale of Season 6 and never been seen again which doesn't make sense at all. I would liked to fix the ending of Season 6 finale as Roy now knows that Aisha have feelings for Nex and decided to ending his rival by annoucing to everyone at Thorne and Daphne's wedding that he's leaving the group to return to Andros. That would make a better exit for Roy's final appearence in the series. 8. I liked Roxy because when I first watched Winx Club Season 4 I originally thought of the time that Roxy will become the seventh of the Winx Club at the end of season 4 but I guess the writers and directors changed their mind in the end which is a shame as Roxy appear less in Season 5 and Season 6. Now that I think about it back in Season 5 in "Trix Tricks" Roxy never tried to help the Winx to stop the the lion demon since she's the fairy of animal. In fact in season 7 episode 3 Roxy was the only one who haven't earn Butterflix despite helping the winx club and play a big role in season 7 of saving the magical animals which is very disappointed to me as she earn the right to have a brand new fairy form. And in Season 7 finale of episodes 26 Roxy along with Bloom's sister Daphne appear at the beginning but not at the end of the celebration party which doesn't make sense as since Roxy is a fairy animal and this whole season is about her helping the Winx save the animals from Kalshara.I really wished the writer try to give Roxy the treatment she deserved as well as give her a Butterflix form of her own. If I was the writer for Winx Club Season 7 then I would write a better story back in episode 3 to make sure that Roxy earn her Butterflix along with the Winx, as well as having her bond with her own fairy animal and earn her Typnix too. 9. Orian only appeared half way during Season 8 until after episode 13 Orian was never been seen again after that. It's very disappointing because they writer could try to get him involve in the rest of season 8.

I've watched this whole thing and I enjoyed it very much the Transformations the dialogue the action etc.

i loved this show so much

Anyone else remember the show "Trollz" I do not remember much from the show but but I do remember there was this scene where they were running from something in a mall ( I don't remember what it was or what it looked like) and they ran up an escalator and the thing tried to run up the escalator that was going down and I also remember there were a lot of hotdogs in this show or at least this episode. I do not remember if this was a Canadian show or if it even existed cause it might just be something my brain made up. I think my aunt brought over the DVD because she was visiting. I don't know if this show actually existed or if I just imagined it and I'm going to look it up at some point(honestly I might just forget about this show for another couple years) but I want to see how much I can remember to see how much I got right. Something about Winx animation reminds me of what I remember from Trollz(early 2000's, bright, pointy and most likely Canadian). I'm really sorry if this was hard to read, I'm really bad at making the things I write sound natural and it probably sounds like a bot wrote this. I am not a bot, I'm just terrible at writing 😎👍
