Answering your questions: - Weirwood trees are very special trees, with white bark and blood red sap and leaves. They were sacred to the Children, but many were cut down, as you have seen in the Lore. Not all trees are weirwood trees. - Why would you attack someone with dragons? Sometimes the best defense is offense, as we've seen throughout history. The Valyrians were dangerous and the Ghiscari tried to get rid of them before they became too powerful. Surely you'll learn more about the Doom, but remember that Valyria was built on 14 active volcanoes. - Why were there people on the other side of the Wall? - I like to imagine a conceptual parallel to the Wall as the Berlin Wall. People have lives, homes, and families. - Why is celibacy so important? Maester Aemon explained it to you in Season 1: so that they do not love. You cannot serve the realm 100% if you're also thinking about protecting your loved ones. - Is Aerys Aegon's son? No, there are about 300 years between Aegon's Conquest and Aerys, known as the Mad King. - Why did Tywin _____? Think about Tywin and what drives him. He was looking out for nr. 1. He waited to see which way the wind blew and made sure he ended up on the winning side. - Robert Baratheon has Targaryen blood: yes, because the Targaryens didn't marry ONLY among themselves. Marrying into the royal family was considered very prestigious. I believe Robert's great-grandmother was a Targaryen princess. - Aerys, the Mad King, had three children: Rhaegar, Viserys, and Daenerys. - Why Elia and her children? The Lannisters were cleaning shop and tying all loose ends. Their survival might have prompted loyalist plotting. Just their existence would fragment loyalties within the Seven Kingdoms. Just look at how worried we are about (Viserys and) Daenerys invading! - Lan the Clever was not a girl! But the Lannisters are great great-great grandchildren of Lan through the female line. - About the wildlings not bothering anyone: they do, actually. They go south of the wall and pillage, steal and other horrible things. That's what the Night's Watch is protecting from at this time. - Tywin mentions two types of noblemen who end up at the Wall, and we have examples of both! Samwell Tarly was disowned by his father and Alliser Thorne was on the losing side of a war. In fact, he was a Targaryen loyalist. - The First Men were the first MEN to get into Westeros, with weapons of bronze. Before that, it was only the Children, the Giants and other creatures of legend. The Andals came after the First Men, with weapons of steel. I hope I answered everything!

@@officialyoungmari and that's the fun part imo.. watching lore videos, reading the books, etc and having things start clicking in your head vs someone just telling you how it is. It took me multiple watches before things really started clicking lol not ashamed to admit that. And here I am years later and things are still clicking. Spoiler: Like recently I noticed how Maester Luwin went to the heart tree to die, sacrificing himself (his blood seeping into the roots), thus helping Bran even after he dies. That probably wasn't intentional in the show and might not even be canon in any way, but it's still something that I noticed after recently delving into theories of the Weirwood trees and blood sacrifices. Since the books aren't finished, there are just as many theories to learn about as there are "facts".

Over all of the Histories & Lore throughout the seasons, you will hear different stories from all different perspectives. You must take everything with a grain of salt. What is the ‘truth’ told by one person might be different than another person’s ‘truth’. The actual truth lies somewhere in between. As in our “real” history, this world has some events written down, but some events are passed on through songs & stories from one generation to the next. Sometimes the people further away disbelieve in certain events because they didn’t see it. That’s why these videos are so entertaining…you get to hear which person is telling their story and that person grew up hearing different things than another person might. Thanks for reacting ❤

Robert has Targaryen blood through Orys, the founder of his house and as the video states, rumored half brother to Aegon the conqueror. But also through Roberts grandma, whom was a Targaryen. With the death of the mad king, Rhaegar and all of his children, Robert was legally third in line for the iron throne, after Viserys and Daenerys.

About the timeline of the Targaryens rule: Aegon I, together with his sister-wives (yes, that's a thing) Visenya and Rhaenys, conquered Westeros around 300 years ago. Ned beheading the NW deserter takes place in 298 a.c. (after conquest), and Dany's wedding to khal Drogo a bit earlier, in 297 a.c. There are a lot of Targaryen rulers between Aegon I and the Mad King (16-18, depending on who you count); counting generations is kinda difficult, because of all the incest lmao

according to Viserys in this video the Doom befell Old Valyria 100 years before Aegons conquest. that would place it around 400 years before the events of the show. the White walkers were from WAY back in time during the Age of Heroes, thousands of years in the past. the age of heroes is somewhat mythical, as it was before recorded history and people didn't start recording things until the Andals came. the dragons were all dead by the time of the mad king, Aegon had the last three at the time of his invasion, and inbreeding took its toll on their offspring. Viserys mentioned that the newest skulls were the size of those of dogs

The First Men were, maybe, the first humans as in "Homo sapiens" on the Westerosi continent, which was already inhabited by the humanoid races of The Children of The Forest, the giants and perhaps the White Walkers/The Others, depending on their origin and whether you'd classify them as a humanoid species like the others However; on the Iron Islands, the "Seastone Chair", the throne of the kings of the Iron Islands, is said to predate the First Men. They supposedly found this throne carved out of oily black stone when they arrived on the islands. There's also the fused-stone fortress at the base of the Hightower in Oldtown, on Battle Isle, down in the Reach. It is unlike other structures seen in Westeros. Some suggest it could be made by Valyrians, who used dragons to create structures of fused-stone, but the Valyrians made their structures elaborate and decorated, and the fortress of the Hightower is very plain and maze-like. Others suggest it could have the same origin as the Seastone Chair, or have been made by "the mazemakers", an extinct people from Essos whose large bones are found on the islands of Lorath; maybe they were another race of men, or as some suggest, the products of men and giants. They made mazes out of carved stone, however. And the fortress is said to be of black stone, but not oily black stone. So depending on when these structures were build, and who build them, the First Men might or might not be the first humans to settle on Westeros. But they were almost certainly the first to fully settle the continent, from Dorne to the North. So for the most purposes, yes, the First Men were first, followed by the Andals, and then in Dorne, the Rhoynar refugees that fled the Valyrians. You also asked about why Tywin would order the rape and murder of Elia Martell. Well, Tywin and Joffrey aren't all that different. Tywin's pride was wounded when Aerys refused the offer of marrying Cersei and Rhaegar, so why not have Rhaegar's wife punished? Sure, it might be stupid to anger the Martells for no good reason, but how dare they take the place of a Lion of the Rock? Better show them that they are no better, and to fear the Lions. Same with the Reynes of Castamere; wipe out the entire House and their household. Same as having his son's wife raped in front of him, because how dare his son marry someone beneath the House? Same as sending Gregor Clegane out to murder, rape and pillage the small folk villages in the Riverlands when Catelyn abducts Tyrion. Tywin has some major issues with pride stemming from his father being laughed at, and Tywin will overreact to that with cold cruelty time and time again. Because deep down, despite his facade of being oh so impressive, is a very small, very pathetic man. And he passed that on to his family; all his children have issues with pride. Why wouldn't Jaime and Cersei fuck each other, when everyone else is beneath the Lions of the Rock, when all that matters is them? Why wouldn't Cersei raise someone like Joffrey, a spoiled, proud sadist? Why wouldn't Tyrion drink his sorrows away, being the eternal disappointing child? Tywin might have brought power to House Lannister, but it's a rotten house build on quicksand, held together with cruelty.

The Doom of Valyria was up to 400 years ago. Aegon The Conqueror was 300 YEARS AGO. Aerys was King up until 17 years ago, now 18. Aerys is the great great great great grandson, maybe more. There was no dragons anymore. For a hundred years, and they were small. You will learn in the next seasons about your Wall climbing and/or passing and Wildling questions, Valyrian links of Maesters, and more. You already learned about celibacy and Night's Watch/Maesters/King's Guard,.... with Master Aemon and his conversation with Jon Snow. "Love is the death of duty."

The truth of Valyrian sorcery and how they came to be blood of the dragon isn’t entirely known, but evidence shows they are most likely descends from an ancient empire called the great empire of the dawn. It is believed a group or groups of refugees fled from this empire when a tyrant named the bloodstone emperors murdered his sister, stole her throne, and cause the first long night.

Keep in mind, most of those stories were spread by mouth, from one generation to the next... So, if you've played the 'telephone' game, you'll understand that most of those stories are not exactly truthful. Or, there's more than to it, or there might be several versions, or some stories are just that, a story. If you watch the show enough times, you'll put all the pieces together. All those stories you just watched are in the show, but it's in bits, here & there, in between the important parts of the show. I hope that makes sense... You'll get much more info about the wildings soon enough. Then you'll understand why there's issues between the people on either side... BTW, uh, you do realize that people can SAIL past the WALL, right?! There are ways to get past the Wall.. You'll find out... 🤘😜

There are two reasons that the Lannisters didn't join Robert's rebellion. The first is that Jaime was part of Aerys Targaryen's kingsguard and was essentially a hostage as much as anything else. This was almost enough to stop Tywin in itself but not quite enough. The second and more important reason is Tywin's obsession with legacy. He wants to leave House Lannister strong and enduring. Siding with either side would risk that legacy. He waited to see who was winning and then joined the victors just in time. If Robert and Ned had been killed, the Lannisters stood ready to rejoin the royal forces. As instead Rhaegar was killed the Lannisters joined the rebellion and ruthlessly secured their place by killing all the remaining Targaryens.

A bit more about celivacy 'here and there' - as you've learned quite a few 'runt of the litter' nobles are in those orders and their family is interested in those celibacy rules so that proper heirs wouldn't have problems with their claim to inheritance (these are nobles or feudals with quite a power and wealth). It's very close to irl history btw. Greatest battle of Hundred Years war (one of inspirations for GRR novels) actually happened in Spain (Castile) where forces of legit king were fighting against forces of his bastard brother (both sides were supported by England and France respectively) - all because previous king had quite a handful of bastard sons and didn't ensure proper peace and order between his sons. Medieval history is full of such examples and families would want to ensure 'future of their house' so that it wouldn't crumble in wars of its own descendants. A bit later on you will encounter term 'second son' which is quite proper name for things described above.

That was a long video so I definitely get missing some stuff. There was a part explaining that the wildlings occasionally gather together under a leader to lay siege to the wall and threaten the northern territory. Every attempt has been thwarted by the nights watch, which is the practical purpose of its existence minus defending against the whitewalkers. Plus it's an alternative to death for many criminals so the incentive to do their job is literally keeping their lives. Also the vows that they take do somewhat unite them. The men of the nights watch call each other brothers and fight for each other. Also remember House of the Dragon is a prequel show out now, and many of the things you were wanting to see may end up in that show.

It can seem quite daunting but trust me, once you start you won't be able to stop. Unfortunately (without spoiling anything) the show leaves out a lot of characters and plots, and the books are just peak fiction. (the show is good as well but I'm always books > show when it comes to this world). Theres currently 5 books in the 'A Song Of Ice And Fire' book series (which is what GoT is based on) and we're still waiting on the last 2 to complete the series - and then theres the book called Fire & Blood which is about the Targaryen history starting from Aegon The Conqueror who conquered Westeros (the show 'House of the Dragon' is based on the later part of the Fire & Blood book) I just thought I'd throw the suggestion in the hopes you'll give it a shot. Just start with the first book (A Game Of Thrones) which is only the contents of season 1 of this show. Feel free to ask anything about the books bro, I'm always happy to push someone towards the books lol

the quote that the Targaryem were famous for losing their minds is a very widespread misconception among the characters and fans of the series themselves, yes, the Targaryem became after Robert's rebellion mainly known for madness but that is only a half truth, in reality we only have about 5 targaryem that can truly be called mad, this may seem like a large number at first but when we consider that house targaryem has more than 30 documented members this becomes a less relevant number, house targaryem was a relatively common dynasty compared to the other wuesteros houses, we have a large amount of information about each member of the targaryem house and most seemed like normal people, the dynasty had its ups and downs with extremely competent kings and at the same time with many others who were unsuitable for the position of king to say the least, whether or not incest had any influence on the minds of the Targaryem it appears to have been much less common than most think.

Something the show doesn't really explore is Jaime and Cersei's dynamic during their childhood - it's talked of a lot more in the books through both Jaime and Cersei's POV chapters. The reason they cling to each other is very complex; It has a lot to do with grief, abandonment issues, and sheer narcissism (especially with Cersei, renowned for her beauty, Jaime is like an extension of herself.) But when she was promised to prince Rhaegar as a girl, she was prepared to end her sexual relationship with Jaime for the prospect of being queen and wife to the most beautiful man in the seven kingdoms. The betrothal ending was a VERY bitter pill for Cersei to swallow, as she essentially had all her hope snuffed out. So she went back to Jaime and continued sleeping with him. As you've seen in this video, Robert was strong, fierce, and quite handsome - very desirable in the eyes of women. But he was also a 'player' and renowned for his wanton behaviour. Cersei was relatively happy on her wedding day because of his valour and handsomeness, but this quickly faded that same night as Robert was still clearly in love with Lyanna, so of course Cersei was jealous of that. Hence why Cersei and Jaime continued to sleep together all those years, it was very much out of spite and also security, particularly as Robert grew drunker and let himself go. So yep, it was a mutually toxic and bitter relationship built purely off of politics. But unfortunately back then, that was most noble marriages. You were lucky if love was able to grow through an arranged marriage, because every marriage was organised by a father normally and as a child you could not refuse. Ned and Catelyn were lucky in that regard, they probably had the strongest and healthiest relationship in the show forged during the rebellion! Love grew for them. side note but Catelyn was initially promised to Brandon, Ned's brother, though after his murder it was custom for her to marry the younger brother of her dead betrothed - Ned. :)

First Men were the first HUMAN inhabitants of Westeros {at least that we know of} while those of the Andal ethnicity came later. Should be known that by this time most modern Westerosi are of mixed Andal and First Men descent {Notable mentionable smaller groups include Braavosi immigrants, Valyrians and Rhoynar {Rhoynar blood is most commonly found amongst the Dornish}. Dorne, the North and the Iron Islands are in my opinion the most unique of the Seven Kingdoms, for different reasons and you'll see why and how later on!😉

11:50 yes but also no. 8000 years ago when the long night happened night and cold descended across the whole world but no white walkers. however. the absolute furthest east we know of. a land now known as yi ti tells of a legend of the ancient empire of the dawn and its final emperor doing some really evil shit which then caused the long night to descend on the world and the lion of night and his "demons" attacking this empire causing its fall. to me this sounds like white walkers but the empire of the dawn is a book theory mostly bc the canons are quite different and it's a whole rabbit hole

    - Aegon is the first Targaryen king, the ancestor of Daenerys - Aerys is Daenerys dad - Aerys became mad because of incest a costume of the Targaryen to keep the bloodline pure - Dragons were extinct during Robert's rebellion. That's why was everyone so shocked that Daenerys hatched dragon eggs.

@@JakeReactsYTid also take it with a grain of salt, no doubt incest plays into Targaryen madness but overall the people in show exaggerate just how many Targaryens went mad. For mad king aerys, let’s just said he went through hell and back which imo is the biggest reason he went mad.

clearly, you weren't paying attention in episode 9 when Maester Amond at the wall told you of his lineage .. actually, you are not paying attention at all cause you are asking questions that have been told in dialogue or shown in a scene in season 1 for an example the ones that captured bran when he was on the horse they where wildlings and they got around the wall

No i definitely remember that wildlings have gotten across, but I don't see them as a threat to the entire westeros as it was only a few. I also do remember the maester at the wall talking about his lineage as well, that was an incredibly shocking scene for me when I saw it! I try my best to pay attention to everything, but keep in mind there is a LOT going on all the time in a lot of different places with a ton of different people and houses and etc.
