Watched North Korean Soldier Escape Video without knowing HE DID IT TOO!

#northkorean #koreans #military
Hello everyone :)
Today was the day Sanghak and Kangyoo first met!
We started shooting as soon as came in so they didn't get the chance to recognize each other at first!
Sanghak didn't know he was from the North until he finished watching the video!
Kangyoo got to share his story of how he escaped North Korea to Sanghak!
Keep leaving us comments and suggestions, we really appreciate it.
You can also get an easier reach via our instagram: / dimple_youtube
Again, thank you for watching and we'll see you again next time!

Even though this doesn't effect me, as an American, I pray for the day North Korean people are free from their tyrannical government. • @IzzyKawaiichi

They know. But, I think most Koreans, unless they are actually soldiers, don't think about North Korea too much. Honestly, compared to the US, everyone here seems much more blasé about it. It's kind of like... let's say you live in a neighborhood that has a really creepy house with a bizarre tenant that doesn't get out much. A long time ago, you got involved in the feud between him and his neighbor about where the property line was, but you live on the other side of the neighborhood and only pass by if you want to know what he's up to now. You're convinced one day he could snap and set the whole neighborhood on fire. That's America. Meanwhile South Korea is the neighbor who has gone about renovating his house and basically ignoring the creep on everything except making sure he stays on his side of the fence. Sometimes one of his starving cats comes over to your house, so you take it in, rehabilitate and rehome it. Occasionally you might wake up in the middle of the night and hear weird noises coming from next door, and you just grumble in annoyance, rollover, and go back to sleep. Also, the nosy, paranoid guy from across the neighborhood keeps asking you what he's up to, and you kind of want to brush him off, but he did help you settle the property line dispute, so you just shrug indifferently and say "See for yourself" and go back to mowing your lawn.

The difference between the two of them, one growing up in freedom and not is crazy… you see how he is so light and joking and the other is more reserved. This really sounds like a Hollywood story ....its crazy that these things still exist in todays world. I am glad he made it though and can live now a way happier and safer life. Also the video kind of reminded me about stories I would hear from Germans who lived behind the wall and tried to escape. They would also shoot if they saw someone trying to escape. Thank God that wall crumbled over 30 years ago. I wonder though if N.Korea and S.Korea will ever become one in the future. For the people in N.Korea I would like that. These people shouldnt be living like they do. Freedom is really precious guys, we need to protect it at any cost and try to give it to those who dont have it yet.

It's hard to believe such a place still exists today. It's medieval.

I have been seeing loads of north korean contents these days and I wonder if the north korean government realize that a lot of their people are escaping as much as they can but they’ll just shrug it off or they will just make an action once there are only few citizens (due to poverty and defectors escaping) in north korea that the only resort is to unify with south korea to end this suffering I mean they can function on their own but still have limits in terms of what are allowed and not allowed to do in both culture? I recently finished watching the spy gone to north and its like south korea is reaching out his hands to north korea but ended up refusing it. How great would it be seeing a train connecting from south to north.
