Hi Rick. In spite of my German name I'm a Scot who today, May 18, celebrates 50 years of living and working in Italy. A few years ago I got a birthday present from friends of a bottle of 2005 Brunello di Montalcino, Val D'Orcia. I'm saving it for my 80th birthday in a year or so. Keep up the good work Steve and when this horrid epidemic is over we'll all be glad to see you back in Europe and be able to enjoy new videos that show your insight, honesty and sensitivity. Perhaps your gift for divulgation comes from your artistic musical background. Nobody needs to know languages to understand music and I think that is probably why you always manage to hit the right note in your other, rather than purely travel, discourses. Sometimes you seem tp me to soumd like a modern version of Will Durant.

Italian wines are so very good. May i encourage more people to like & subscribe to this video & channel, as the info is always interesting & right up there with the best. Rick Steves always brings us great travel & cultural experience content. Thanks for sharing.

Interestingly, Coravin was invented in the US and the company is based in Massachusetts. It's an awesome invention for wines bottled with traditional corks.

Love the down to earth approach. Rick you're having "way" too much fun. You do an awesome job of connecting with people about the Italian food culture. I've savoured many a bottle of Brunello over the years that have had me reminiscing about travelling in Italy. Hope to get back over there in 2023. Keep up the buon lavoro.

I would love to try a bottle of the Brunello di Montalcino wine that Rick enjoyed so much on the show. As there are many different brand names that bottle that particular appellation, did any happen to catch the name of the 2015 year brand that Rick was actually drinking?

I wonder why mr Steves doesnt speak italian . He s often in Italy and Italy is his best business. Is it so difficult for american to speak other languages ?

I am a Rick Steves fan & i too, have wondered the same thing. Rick has shared with us however, that he is not too good with learning new languages, however, he always learns a few words here & there, pertaining to whichever country he's visiting. This is a good thing to do, as it breaks the ice with the locals, it also shows the locals that some interest has been shown, some effort's been made & they appreciate this. Also, it just shows common decency, respect, good manners, decorum & etiquette.

Best travel shows ever! Ever notice when Rick is in Europe he uses the fork the 'correct' way there which for us as Americans is upside down. But at home he does it the American way. It's important though because so much about his shows is about figuring out local etiquette as a way to help blend in & meet people.

Maybe time to write a book about the good people, places, and wonderful places of the USA.

Please do not type such ignorant, rude & hurtful comments. This is a fun travel channel & Rick Steves is a great guy, an open minded & intelligent man who loves travelling to Europe & around this incredible world. The US is "not" utopia, as it possesses loads of it's own political/legal issues and always has historically. No country is perfect, but there again, the US is NOT on top of the pyramid/world, with everyone else beneath it, as Rick Steves once mentioned within one of his talks that i watched. The US is only "4%" of this world & there is another "96%" of the world out there to go & see, to explore & to learn more about, which equates to stronger & better human relations. Anyone who possesses utterly homogenous/narrow minded views regarding the world in which they live, is surely & sadly missing out on some of life's greatest moments/experiences. Missing out on getting to experience our amazing world & all it has to offer, no matter where one may hail. I have travelled the world numerous times & i can say with hand on heart, that ALL humans, ALL over our world, are much more similar, than we are different. We ALL share approx 99% of our DNA, with only a wee 1% variation. It's only the poisonous news channels, media & local Governments who try to tell us otherwise. Many global Govt's may be corrupt, but if you meet locals within ANY country, they're all very similar in their approach to daily life. They simply yearn for love, peace, safety/security, a voice, support for better acknowledgement, better equality & human rights, etc;. We humans are ONLY ever fearful, when we refuse to be more open minded, when we refuse to leave our own comfort zones/bubbles and travel & witness for ourselves, what is truly going on out there, rather than fall for lies, almost always forced upon us, primarily via our tv sets. There are good, honest, very hard working, friendly & hospitable people everywhere on planet earth. The US is in no way "unique or extra special".
