I believe this song was written about Elvis Presley. It describes Elvis perfectly--nobody could sing love songs any better, and towards the end of his life, he was just a sad and broken--and only 42. Vince Gill does a wonderful job with this song, and pays a wonderful tribute to Kenny Rogers. RIP, Kenny.😔⛪

@@jodywilke4642 Not exactly. The song is about Waylon but Elvis heard it and he felt so identified with the lyrics. He wanted to cut it, but never got the chance to do so.

I can't think of three better guys, to honor Kenny. What a trio they are. Country at it's best.

Miss Goldie except for brad paisley, he was very disrespectful to the President, CMA awards thought he was funny with Carrie Underwood, no integrity on their part. and they did it again following year. I do not like either of them. Vince has talent and integrity, paisley has zero.
