They did another vet video a while back with Dixie, Vixie, and Finn and I was surprised to find out that Vixie is actually lighter than Finnegan. She always seems so big but she's really just a living koosh ball.

@@petersoerent2554 how would that explain they climb trees? Bears are heavy and climb trees. But actually, red foxes do not climb trees. They cannot vertically climb. It is very very rare red foxes will climb trees and if they do, like I said..they cannot climb vertically so it would have to be a tree like the one Felix climbs that is more horizontal than straight up and down. And the parts that are straight up and down on that tree, he cannot climb. He more so just leaps very high/far and jumps from branch to branch. Grey foxes are able to climb trees tho.

Seeing Esmea only weigh 13 pounds really makes me appreciate how much of a chonker Valentine was. If I remember right, My Lord of Floof was 23 pounds. We miss you Valentine.

I’m always surprised how small and light foxes really are. Their coat makes them look heavy and bigger.

the frantic digging in background, fox-instincts are strong - yet they are all really good natured when they are out and being examined, even when doc is messing with sore paws.. shows that they really come from a content, safe environment.

Poor Esmae. My German Shepherd had a similar injury to her front paw where she sliced the base of one of her pads open on a window sill. It was a chore keeping her from licking/chewing on it, and it bled for almost two weeks. Think we went through a few dozen gauze pads, several rolls of wraps and the normal antibiotics and gabapentin for pain. In our case, we didn't get stitches because they would have caused more problems. It healed up surprisingly well. Hopefully she learns not to jump on the window anymore.

Oh my goodness. Foxes 🦊 are so cute! I know they take a lot of work. I have a fox that has been coming on my porch eating the cat food I leave out for the neighbors tomcat! He stays at my house more than theirs, I think I leave more consistent food. (2 times a day) But I also leave table scraps out too. I cook clean. There is also a opossum that eats what I leave out too! Blessings and Peace ❤️✝️

One technique you could use to corral an animal when trying to get them into the carrier is to get a big enough section of plywood (for example but other things could work too) and trap the fox in a corner of the room. And if the piece of wood is big enough you can then place the carrier down behind the wood where the fox is and they should go in. Basically you are just shrinking the space down to where just the fox and the carrier can fit. It doesn’t give the fox many options and they will most likely go in the carrier. It’s easier than chasing them around a large open space.
