Another, possibly even better option for the Ethernet dilemma, could be to just set up a second router on the same WiFi network and then use that for Ethernet. It’s close to the same price as the moca adapter and doesn’t just help with ping but it helps with the overall WiFi in your home.

I'm having problems with the manual dns tip. I don't have periods to click to, just a bar. (Edit: for IPv6, the preferred server is as follows: (A) 2001:4860:4860:8888 OR (B) 2001:4860:4860:0:0:0:0:8888 and the alternate server is as follows: (A) 2001:4860:4860:8844 OR (B) 2001:4860:4860:0:0:0:0:8844. Hopefully this helps.) Edit: I noticed Jerian has IPv4 and I have IPv6 I know about zero things related to pc and optimizing them so does this have something to do with my problem? Second edit: after literally 30 seconds of looking into it, IPv6 needs a different address for the preferred and alternate dns servers, so maybe if you say this tip in the future, please include the IPv6 version, but for anyone who needs it, I will put it at the top of this comment.

*Make sure you test ping your ISP's DNS server which should be automatically set in your router's settings. Most of the time your ISP's DNS is actually closer/faster than a 3rd party's DNS like Google.*

Wrong dns server is a routing table it uses to connect to other servers. If your isp has no idea what game server you are looking for the hand it off till you get where you want to go. Ibternet servers are not optimised for game traffic. The ibternet is not a straight highway from server to server its a spider web that if any path is broken it reroutes you. There is very little anyone can do when it comes to dns. Also ping is the round teip from you to the server and back. You could be across the street from a server and have 100 ping while someone 2000 miles away has 10. Physical location means nothing on the internet. The switches, modems, and routers your data travels thru is out of your control and their congestion and speed matter.

Growing up on bo1 and bo2, I sure did have a 50ft Ethernet cable running thru the length of our trailer 🤣🤣 good times, good times😭🤣
