I shared on X, but wish I lived closer, so I could visit with Berty myself, and bring my Jax, and Trudy Froody.

As soon as you put Albert on your lap, he started yawning. As a trauma therapist, I know that’s a sign of him releasing some of the trauma that kept him in that frozen state. Very heart warming to see him settle into your love and stop shaking. Albert is a sweetie. Thanks Rocky for everything you do for dogs.

Hi Rocky, I'm a 90 Year old Australian woman . I was, earlier in life, a dog behaviourist so I have nothing but admiration for you and how you treat those poor abandoned puppies. My life has been my dogs and I cannot imagine myself ever giving up any of my 26 dogs. I want to adopt all the puppies you have worked with. My heart went out to the little terrier you coaxed to stop trembling so I hope he goes to a good home soon. Great work.

I adopted a 7 month old puppy back in November he was found on the street. He was microchipped shelter contact the person they said he was given away and that they did not want him back. So now he is in his forever home.

I had pebbles for 11 years. She was born on Valentine's Day February 14th 2000. We were together for 11 years and she crossed over February 26 2011. I'm still convinced to this day that I was so broken hearted even the sky started to cry and it started to rain. She was 4 inches tall and 4 inches long with a heart the size of a song and I put a bell on her collar so when I couldn't see her I could always hear her. even though she's been gone for 13 years I can still hear her little bell ring and I know she is right by my side. I still love my dog with all my heart and I will for the rest of my Life!!❤️💕❤️

But maybe when you're not traveling, you would consider fostering dogs. Our local shelter is constantly asking for short-term Foster's especially for the sick dogs. You would be perfect for that because you don't have any other pets that could catch contagious diseases. They just need a quiet place while they recover from various sicknesses. And they usually just need a home for 2 weeks or a little more.

I worked full time for many decades and did a lot of overtime and wanted to have a pet. A dog wasn’t a good option for me so a friend suggested a cat. Have been a cat owner for decades now. I just adopted two cats that are sisters and they are still only a few months old but have grown into two beautiful cats and are very friendly.

I don’t know how to get a message to you. So, I will just post this and cross my fingers that you read it. I want to thank you for teaching me how to get a very timid rescue to warm up to me, by offering treats. She would not take them from my hand, so I left some in front of her, then from my hand. Then I brushed up against her paw and eventually got her to trust my touch. I took her home and she is the most beautiful, gentle, girl. Her name is Rose, and she is very sociable with humans. Amazing transformation that could have gone the wrong way had she been pushed or forced. Thank you so much for all that you share.

Last May I rescued 2 tiny older shelter dogs ages 11 and 7 with no teeth. I tried softer treats but they aren't interested. They are so timid. Any ideas how I can show them love without terrifying them?

He is just gorgeous. Why are people so cruel to little defenceless animals. I wish I could adopt him and love him forever.

Abandonment can create such awful trauma. He deserves better than the heartless monsters that abandoned him.

I noticed the shaking had stopped when you were reading and it literally seemed like he relaxed when you started reading the poem! I wish he was near me. I would love to have him as my new best friend! ❤

I would imagine Albert was not just scared, but suffering from depression as well. Some TLC is exactly what he needs!

Oh, Albert! This one is so special! To go from shaking and terrified, to sitting calmly in Rocky's lap taking treats... that's beyond AMAZING! I feel like it was a combination of Rocky's patience, calm voice, and reading of the viewer mail / t-shirt... it all played a part! Now let's find him an incredible home of his own!

I’m in love with this darling little puppy. Has he been adopted? Albert is so gentle & needs love but he’s depressed & feeling unwanted which breaks my heart. I live in Australia which is only a flight away! Please let me know if you would consider me? He would never be alone, he’d be fed the best food & we’d go for walks in the park next door. I’m in a retirement home so he’d have lots of human & canine friends & he’d always be safe. Please let me know if he’s still available, I doubt it as he’s the perfect little fella for a family or a single (widow) like me but if I don’t ask I’ll never know if he was snapped up & is happily settled with a super lucky new family. Im going to sit & anxiously await your reply in

When my dog went missing for 15 minutes, I had called every shelter within 50 miles in hysterics. His family isn't coming to find him. But that's OK because they don't deserve him.

My son found a small dog in the parking lot of dollar general. He said the clerks said she had been there for weeks they had been feeding her. So he left his name and phone number if someone was looking for her. He brought her home and he showed her to us. She looked like a small Beagle mixed with another small breed. We walked into his house my son told us she had not barked or whined. When I walked in she started crying I felt so sorry for it was like she was crying & trying to tell me what had happened. We all fell in love with this little girl she had a permanent home. We took her our Vet and he estimated she was about 8 years old. We gave her the shots. About 6 years later she had Cancer in her mouth and it was fast growing. Within 2 months the pain seemed unbearable we had to put her to sleep. I grieved a long time about my sweet Katie. She was the sweetest little angel I had ever had. Still missing her.

You rescued her and gave her her best life. My loving Gypsy also had fast growing mouth cancer. Other than that, she was healthy and active. We also eventually had to let her go. Rescues are the best! All our furbabies have been rescues.

Seeing a dog that afraid just hurts my heart. So innocent! The trembling made me cry. How anyone can neglect or mistreat an animal is beyond my comprehension!

My last dog, Jessica came from the RSPCA. I saw her from across a yard from the kennel she was in about 20 yards away.... she was haunched and rooted to the spot and literally vibrating with fear. In that nano second I first saw her.... she had a home for life. I had no idea if she was in fact a boy or a girl or what age she was. I went straight to the reception and said I WANT THAT DOG. One week later she came home with me and spent the rest of her life doing what she wanted to do when she wanted to do it.... she wanted a lot of walks.... and lots of steak bless her. I could never repay the love she gave me.... never.

My shelter dog was an escape artist. It took 6 weeks for them to catch her. I soon learned a regular collar would not work. She constantly slipped out of all of them. I found one that she can’t slide off. She’s a cutie and is now 7plus years old. She is the happiest little thing and makes me laugh and smile every day. We both needed one another.

I agree. Albert is a perfect name. He seems to be a little more relaxed than earlier.

Rocky-your constant chatter in a deep voice while working with these little ones is a great source of comfort to them. It gives a quiet reassuring surrounding in another loud/empty cage. Thanks for your patience and acceptance is so loving for them.

Li'l Albert reminds me of Romeo. Almost fifty years ago, my grandmother took in a stray dog named Romeo. He looked a lot like little Albert, only much older: few teeth left, each sticking out in a different crazy direction. Romeo had many patches of hair missing, and his eyes seemed to be looking different directions. Grandma liked to hum and sing to herself, and Romeo always joined in the chorus: howling. Grandma was getting on in years too, and they made a colorful couple! Thanks Li'l Albert, for bringing me a pleasant memory!

LOVE hearing about Grandma and Romeo. My grandparents had a chihuahua for something like 25yrs. He was a stray they took in, so had no info on his age etc. But Boy was always a big part of my life growing up. As Rocky always says "Dogs are AWESOME!"

Wow! I am thrilled to have found this channel. I have rescued dogs running in the middle of highways and rainstorms. I will take them to our blessed humane society in the Twin Cities. If I see a lost pet notice I will call the number and try to get more information to see if I can help. I am involved in protests for the protection of any animal. Thank you so much. I hope Albert found a loving home. We would have a dog but due to our age, health and no yard, It would not be fair to them.

he looks alot like my little dog named Arlo.

About 25 years ago. god sent me a dog exactly like Albert. He was sitting on my driveway. He ate 3 cans of food. We called him scruffy boy. I bathed him and took him to the vet. 18 mos. He lived to be 18 years old and was my best friend and I still feel he was an angel. I would give my eye teeth for this little dog. I’m in West Virginia. A long way away. I hope he gets a really good family. He loved baths and brushing. His hair would split in the middle of his back and drop to the floor. He understood and protected far more than dogs should.

I had a Scruffy, too, found in freezing cold on Street in NewOrleans. He was one of my best dogs. Our Maggie was like Albert in the shelter workers lap, slated to be euthanized next day - went home with us!

Loving animals more than people is a natural response once someone has been in rescue awhile. I know you think you just did something to 'school' her, but really only made it clear you've never immersed yourself in helping animals. People are, more often than not, completely vile. And the sole reason these dogs lose their lives every minute of every day.

His eyes are so soulful but hes also sad/terrified that is really heartbreaking. Albert is gorgeous and is a good boy.

All my aninals are spayed or neutered as soon as they are old enough. My husband and I found and re-homed 15 dogs over a five year period. We kept one that no one wanted due to his size. We also found our cat in the dumpster. Thank you for sharing these stories and helping these little one.

We have a dumpster cat, too. Most amazing, loving cat I have ever had. Still very fearful of strangers, especially men, but so loving and affectionate that I don't think I'll ever have such a loving fur buddy again.

@sharoncruzen1942 That's awesome. Unfortunately I lost my husband four years ago but I honor his memory by doing what I can to help our furry friends and I have just opened my home to my first foster dog Harley.

Your work on Sitting with Dogs is so inspiring. As a 70-year-old retiree, I have time to spend and would love to do what you do, but I feel conflicted because shelter cats need socialization, too, and I've heard that they don't receive nearly as much attention as dogs.

This was so delightful and made my day. You turned this little guy around in such a few minutes. To see him so shakey and frightened, then watch as his muscles relaxed one by one until he was yawning and eating out of your hand. He's a lovely dog and I hope this will show people that a skiddist, fearful dog can be turned into a great pup with a little TLC. !!! Inside every scared dog there is a great dog who wants to be friendly and have fun!

Breaks my heart to see these little dogs so terrified.

I hate his shaking. I know how bad the little guy feels. His eyes were so sad, & scared, could see the difference not long after he picked him up. Alberta stopped shaking, his eyes were open wide & looking around. I hope someone has given him a loving home.❤ ❤❤

Oh my gosh that poor little one so frightened. What a cutie, those eyes are breaking my heart...I would definitely have picked him up in the parking lot and taken him home.

Thank heavens someone brought him to the shelter before he was hit by a car or stacked by a large dog. He is such a special baby!!

Where is this shelter? My dog was stolen last year and I'm so ready to adopt. I wish my local shelters were more accessible and do move advertising. Thanks for sharing your good work with these abused creatures. He's so sweet, I'd take him home in a heartbeat.

I had caught a dog and a pet cage and he was so brutally beaten I took him home and he screamed like a baby he went in the corner of the of our house and just curled up in a ball and I picked him up and I hugged him and kissed him and told him how much I love him he sat in my chair with me all the time he cried and screamed for 4 months and he turned out to be the best best little dog he was partial and park terrier and he was the love of my life

He stopped shaking because he can feel the good and the love from you. X

I swear to God my eyes just rain out when he starts saying these sweet things to this poor little creature. So fragile and beautiful.

We live in a upscale neighborhood. We only have 15 houses and you don't know it's a subdivision until you get in it. That leads up to a little black cat that was dropped in our neighborhood. I think whoever dropped him was thinking he would get taken care of. Which, of course, he was. Once he was in the house he immediately went upstairs and climbed onto my husband's chair and sat down beside him. What ever happened that led to Shadow coming into our life we are grateful.

I can’t imagine what this dog has gone through to shake like that. Thank you for caring about these helpless animals.

When Albert took the treat, I could literally hear the "Hallelujah Chorus" going through your head.

As a retired massage therapist, I want to let you know that quick touch, like you did with your fingers excites and will increase nervousness…slow touch, or still touch (touch and hold) causes the autonomic nervous system to relax. It could decrease the time it takes to calm an animal and let you get positive results for more animals. I love what you’re doing for these animals.

So glad Albert finally found somebody to feel safe and loved and help on his learning to be a puppy again.

That "random dude" is the giant here. 45 minutes? Only a giant with a giant heart would do that? Bravo!

I think he peed in the house and was thrown out. That went on for a while and he was punished play brutal force. Now he's in a cold shelter area and slowly getting the love he needs. What a blessing that he doesn't bite, just to defend himself from any harm. I would adopt him if it was possible for me.

Its so heartbreaking to see any creature so ruined by life. The people who save them are the real heroes. That broken soul . Be that humans or animals. Lets all have compassion for eachother. Please? Or the evil win

I got a shelter puppy a couple of years ago. I hadn't had a dog since I was a child and really wasn't interested in getting one. Then, one day, I just felt an urge to go get a little puppy and give him a good life. It changed my life. I live alone and my little buddy Tiger is a good friend to me. If you want to see him I uploaded a couple of shorts of him. I'm speaking now to anyone out there who's like I was. I really, really encourage you to do the same. If you do, though, you need to tell your puppy what I told mine...we're family now and I'll never, ever abandon you and I'll do my best to give you a happy life. Thanks for reading.

I feel his fear, and it breaks my heart. If I could, I would have a fur-baby ranch and take care of as many dogs, that needed the help, as was possible. They are precious, and give so much more than we give to them!

I rescued a small senior dog 3 years ago. She shook like this, and still does for a short time, in certain situations. She didn't even bark the first year I had her. She certainly barks now. I don't know what happened to her since the pound had no history except she was wandering the streets. She is spoiled rotten, and I love her so much!

Poor baby! I hope your life will be filled with cuddles and treats and toys and sweet positive words from now on. You deserve it little one.

It just came natural to him to help the dog to not feel overwhelmed. Love is stronger than pain. Nice to see someone reaching out to traumatized animals. Success stories affect the heart. Bravo.
