Hey, Sean, I sold my 2007 Yamaha Silverado 1100 and bought a 2018 Rebel 500. I'm 74 years old and been riding different bikes for 55+ years. THIS BIKE IS NOT ONLY A BEGINNER BIKE, BUT A WELL SORTED COMPACT MOTORCYCLE THAT GOES LIKE HELL. I'm not apologetic about the bike when me and my buds (all have 1100 bikes) go on 800+ mile trips, this baby keeps the pace, but I end up more relaxed at the end of the trip because I'm not hauling around extra weight. I commited the sin of adding a windshield (not pretty, but comfortable), a cool, inexpensive exhaust, and a custom tailight, now it's my custom. You guys keep up the good work on these videos and Honda you keep up the good work too. Ride on, Bros!

I will say something though, even though I passed my Harley academy test etc (We don't have MSF where I live), I wish I had a small Ninja 250,300 or 400 sometimes to just throw it around without the "fear of weight" and learn faster and ride more often.

That's to get the price up. The big manufacturers don't want to sell ANYTHING less than $4800, so super size it. The teen market really has no logical real bike under 25hp and for a few thousand ($2000 or under used) until they reintroduced the CB125 this year. However you must jump from 125 to 300/500 for street standards.

I really like the look of it. Honda is kinda going with the Lotus method of power. Lightweight with enough power. Wet the Rebel is under 370 lbs. An Indian Scout 60 is over 600 lbs. it has about 28-30 more HP than the Rebel 500. It’s going to waste 20 of them on the extra 200+ lbs. Both are thought of as beginner bikes. I’d argue the Honda is a little more clickable at that light weight. Decent little bike, especially for the money.

Don't even try to compare the scout 60 to the POS Honda rebel. Like comparing a Honda Fit to a mustang GT...Less power than the Scout 69 but like 3 times the hp of the Rebel...SMH

My first bike was the 2017 Honda rebel, 2 months later I traded it for the 2017 indian scout 69. I don't regret it, but that Honda was a blast to ride. Flickable and fun for sure. Still miss it a little.

Hondas halmark is having a a low weight sufficient hp vehicle. Like the civics have always had less hp than competition but also alot less weight. So dont compare lotus method to honda aproach because honda was doing that since there inception to tge western world.

Nice review. I particularly like the words of wisdom segment. I'm seriously thinking of learning how to ride. I live in Mass. I was channel surfing on you tube looking for bike videos and I came across this channel. I'm a subscriber now. The Rebel 500 sounds like a really cool beginner bike. I like the Vulcan S and the Harley Sportster. I looked at naked bikes, sport bikes but I think I would prefer cruisers and touring bikes. I know people hate on the Honda Goldwing but after watching a video review of the 2019 model, I was wowed by how refined it is. I'm probably going to take a safety course and get the endorsement on my license. I can drive a stick shift so that should help, maybe? Thanks for the video, cheers!

in the motorcycle safety courses they teach you about the clutch and shifting the gears, you can show up knowing nothing but all they require is you have a dot helmet eye protection proper boots and also gloves

One of the very best things about your reviews and comments is your mention of the Scriptures, sometimes with and sometimes without, a short follow up comment. Make no mistake, people hear this and it reaches people. Old Christians like me love hearing it and those who are not believers in the Lord Jesus always hear it and wonder....you sow, we all reap. Please stay safe.

Great anything bike. Had one with 30k+ miles I rode every day. The overdrive gear is what really makes it awesome. Took it all across Oregon from Idaho to the coast to Washington and California. Had almost 50k when I sold it. Still ran probably better than the day I got it too. I'd keep it forever if I could ever find another low mileage one

This thing is a great Bobber Chop just waiting to happen. It already has great lines for a bobber an doesn't need much. Drag handlebars, off with the fenders and everything behind the seat support, a spring seat to replace the stock, relocate the rear lighting and license plate bracket, shorten (open) the exhaust pipes, and bingo.
