Bro are you seriously comparing this to an ESEE 6 and complaining g that its shorter. I mean 4 inch versus 6 inch my guy? I couldn't make it 2 minutes through this video. Fml.

It's the handle on the esee 4 that's insanely short. Half of my hand is just hanging in the air when I'm holding the esee 4. And to have to by an extended handle from TKC for another $50 is even more insane. And I have the esee 6, 5 and junglas and I like them. But what they did with the handle of the esee 4 is retarded

Pin of shame. You're just stating the obvious my guy. He's reviewing the knife for people to see if they should get it. If the 4 inches is a dealbreaker, get the esee 6. Thats it.

@@johnnyeas1431 the thing about the 3 and the 4 is they are designed to be a bit more compact. By adding a larger/longer handle could defeat the purpose of having a more compact knife suited to EDC. I have an Esee 3 that I EDC and an Esee 6 they sits in my safe 95% of it’s time because it is monstrous!

I agree on the choil. Especially for the tactical version with the sharpened swedge. If you're gonna use it for self defense/fighting you're gonna need as much edge as you can get

The esee S35vn is my edc knife. A lot of people complain about the handle on these, and I agree it’s right on the edge of being too small for large size hands. But to me, that’s the beauty of it. For edc, every 1/4 inch and ounce matters. This applies to guns, flashlights, multitools, etc. The bar is very high for size and weight for something you have to conceal and carry every day. This knife is just the right size to make it worth carrying and doing hard use knife stuff with, but not any bigger than it needs to be. If I was stranded in the woods, I have larger knives I’d rather have on me, but guess what, I don’t edc those due to their size. Same goes for my gun, I carry a g43x. If I was going to war would I pick something else? Absolutely. But the g43x is extremely size efficient. And that’s what matters for edc. There are very few competitors to the esee 4 for an edc fixed blade in this size range and an excellent sheath.

Instead of buying extended scales you can put a carabiner or keyring through the lanyard hole for extra grip Works real well... also you can make the choil bigger with a grinding stone on a drill

I have a very small blade that I added a knotted bit of lanyard to the end and this allows my ring and pinky to get some purchase on it, especially when drawing from the tight kydex sheath. This may also be helpful and multi-purpose compared to a key ring.

I feel the choil is really a deal breaker. It removes the strongest cutting part of the blade. You have the most power closest to the ricasso…But i also feel like hand size shouldn’t be an issue with this handle shape as there is no birdlip which actually limits knives to hand sizes. Sometime’s people have to learn to adapt to a knife But still I liked your review, very helpful thanks

I carry the 1095 4 for edc. I have larger hands also but ended up putting a pinky lanyard on it. I also enlarged the choil to fit my bigger fingers. Maybe not plausible for the s35vn tho. I did make mine into a mini bowie 4 and love it. It's served me well for all tasks I've put it thru. I have the 6 also and love it.

You should definitely get yourself the 4HM, everything that you don’t like about this knife is addressed with the HM version,; it’s even thicker too, the Micarta feels good. It’s probably my favorite knife

Bigger notch…cohil? Didn’t know there was a teen that. Blade way too close for index. I found the handle to be too small as well BUT it’s such a nice compact, stout blade, knife I find myself using it. I found for utility and bushcraft it’s awesome for its size and manageable when practiced. For self-defense I worry my hand would slide up and I’d slice my index finger. For some reason I go back to this one….it’s kinda like a Glock 19 versus a full-size: the smaller handle stays out of the way but there is a trade off. Was using bench made nimvarus for years which I feel more comfortable for knife fighting but not as good as the 4 for everything else. Blade on bench made is way thinner. Bottom line for me is that, for the size, it’s the best I’ve found for the woods and you can carry an asp and g19 for self defense.
