The concern was raised and to help the common man he showed a work around. I care about saving my money.

I noticed it once. I think it was because the driver took a route other than the original one. The route was longer, hence the fare increased for me.

This happened to me 3 times. I did not understand what was going on?! Why is the price increasing?! This information is really useful for me. thanks

Autowalas do this before the ride starts. They have higher morale than uber.

It's not a scam. The initial price shown is predicted. Your final invoice depends on the trip, you could've taken a different route, made stops along the way, adding distance and time which are chargeable. Hence final fares are different. Changing routes could also add toll. In my case, I've experienced both higher final fares as well as lower.

Happened with me too. Charged me 250+ than the original fare. The driver took a longer route resulting in a higher fare. Please beware and make sure the driver is following the predefined route that was shown to you.

I just experienced this yesterday, I booked a cab for my father on Uber at ₹341, the can driver was being a d for 3 luggage bags even though he had a roof rack right in front of everyone's eyes, he told us he would charge more, we were being late so thought we would give him ₹50 more but when my father arrived at destination I saw Uber fare was ₹422 and there were no details mentioned to why and on what basis my fare was increased, I thought maybe Uber would have given drivers an option to increase fare for extra luggage but 80₹ increase when you had a roof rack all the time, I booked a cab not an auto only because there would be more space for luggage there and this guy was a d and now I know that Uber was also a huge D, it's an L and a D for Uber!!

The same thing happened with me like 10-15 times by now as I do a lot OLA bike, they refunded the money almost everytime in form of vouchers but I would just really appreciate the money back in normal form

In such situations I just complained - “My fair is too high” and I got refund in a few minutes…did not require a screenshot …but it’s a shame that Uber plays such tricks and sneak in extra charges

This is not a day to day case. My adjustments are ₹0.01-₹1.00 only. But yes always do this in case your charged ridiculously higher. 10% or more is usual higher case

For people who want to know more, Uber is technically not scamming because the first fare that they show is called as estimated fare and also fare increases according to traffic and weather. Sometimes it even decreases

Yes this is what I was experiencing with Uber here in West Bengal too recently..i got back my excess fare by selecting “fare was too high” option too.. I think this scam is also tricking customers into believing that they have an awesome customer service..

This situation happened to me as well. Once me and my friend took a cab for 20km which costed us ₹750. Me and my friend were busy in talking, meanwhile driver took advantage of this and took another route which added 10km more to journey and pricing became ₹1400. When I asked driver after getting down, he said one word answer " Sir traffic is more ". Then I paid him like a clown and mailed Ola about this situation. After 100's of mails, a month after they gave me 140rs cashback.

Nothing new, this is going on for a couple of years now. This usually happens when Driver takes a longer router for any reason (to avoid traffic for example) then the fair is higher than it was estimated at the start of the trip. I mostly pay online so I get the amount back in the form of refund. Not sure how it’s adjusted at Driver’s end though.

Hi, I live in Canada and here in Uber if they quote you 5$ for a ride, then even if the ride gets stuck in a 2hours traffic, they still charge 5$. A good insight if you wanna raise concerns to appropriate person.

This not the half of it. If you are ever going to Delhi in a Uber then chances are you are paying extra MCD Toll Tax. Uber charges its customers 105 instead of 100. They add Rs 5 fot tax on the mcd toll which you paid and this is not the case. If you actually pay for mcd toll then it’s only 100 and not 105

Solution: Develop & Use Indian Alternative/ Government Alternative for public transport.

Uber shows attitude outside India. They will ban you if you don't pay tip or if your driver gives a low rating 😂.

I also got scammed from OLA. I booked an outerstation OLA cab from my city to Kolkata (around 170 kms). Local cabs charges 3.5k-4k. OLA showd me around 3.2k price, so I booked it but the final fare was 4.7k (1.5k extra). That was my first and last time booking an outerstation cab from OLA. Though I booked multiple times OLA intercity cabs, and I paid what shown during booking and never had to pay extra amount.

But The taxi driver mut inderstand wait...None of those bastards will wait 😂😂😂

Well Looks like Ola did the same today. Took a ride from Mumbai International Airport to a hotel that was 5 km away. The original amount shown was around ₹380 but what I was charged was ₹555. I downloaded the invoice to double check and apparently there was a time charge of ₹250. One rupees per minute of ride time. now think again how can 5 km ride take 250 minutes. Immediately informed support and they said they would credit a voucher but the damn fuckers do not have a proper customer care number which you can call. you have to go through the bot bullshit.
