WATCH THIS Before Playing Knights of Honor 2 - Beginner's Guide & Tutorial

Ойындар

Knights of Honor 2: Sovereign is a deep new grand strategy game set during the middle ages, and there is a lot to learn here. Beginners and newcomers will likely need some direction before playing, and so I decided to put together this essential beginner's tutorial, which shows you everything you need to pay attention to in the beginning of your campaign, as a sort of first step or introductory guide.
We go through how to make money, which buildings to build in which provinces, how to wage war, and how to conduct diplomacy, even how and when to use your knights and royal court.
I hope this video was helpful to you, and if it was, make sure to leave a like and subscribe to the channel! If you have any comments, leave them down below and I'll do my best to answer them :)

    Valuable advices! Just one thing - you might want to pick a first kingdom tradition early, as it is cost effective. Traditions are the key to victory in this game and their bonuses really stack and pay off. Kings are the best way to learn traditions, as they learn a skill in 3rd lvl for only 200 books. Personally I pick a merchant king as first and Writing as my first tradition.

    I never played the original but ive played about 5 hours of this so far and its a good game. The trade/diplomacy/knight and building chain are all well implemented mechanics. The map is also pretty good. The only two downsides for me so far is the fact that you cant turn your camera or zoom in/out further, its the same in battles where you have a top down view which just seems limiting. And the battles are pretty underwhelming because the units take a lot of damage quickly and run off.

  • @eclipset.9683

    @eclipset.9683

    It's the same number of knights as before, except that your king is always in a slot of your court now. (Which was usually ideal anyway, since previously they cost no upkeep). There are some significant improvements here, though. Merchants can govern a town, trade with someone (and expand that trade to be worth more than a typical route), as well as import up to 3 goods at a time. Previously, this would take 5 separate merchants. Besides the improved efficiency in space, (other knights can govern and do other tasks as well), the choices for knights is streamlined. So, no need for builders or landlords, you can have merchants that give books, not just clerics, and all types can be educated with specialized skills. (And any skill that's a part of a tradition is available to all knights to learn). I think they made massive improvements to the royal court system. (Knights also have way more to do, and the diplomat type is extremely useful). Prisoners not taking up a slot is huge as well.

    KoH2 is so much better and more accurate to history, no tax tab and no unlimited knights, in reality a society is more complex than that. in the time setting of Knights of Honor 2, rulers had to be careful about overtaxing the population, lest they lose the kingdom, knights were somewhat rare and considered special, being noble born. Richard 2nd was dethroned eventually for over taxing the population of England to support his lavish appetite and lifestyle. raising an army was extremely time consuming and extremely expensive and could ruin a kingdom before a war was won. The list goes on. in order to have knights you need to pay for them, via tax and trade

    sadly AI cheats and the building upgrade system locks you to choices you might not want, once you upgrade building if you want to build another building of that type you are unable to built the un-upgrade version but the fully upgraded version costs a ton hence you are block when you are under pressure, devs claim this is depth - to me it makes the game more shallow and takes away player choice

    The game has some nice features, although I'm not certain it will actually be that good. A combination of Total War and Paradox games sounds fun in theory but I think it's harder to do good than just doing something like ck3 and when a battle starts you enter total war.

    The AI does know how to play sometimes. Playing as Nicaea, I attacked the Latin Empire (reclaiming Byzantium) however the Latins had an extremely wealthy trade deal with 2 other kingdoms, which I presumed wouldn’t get involved in a massive war as I also had a trade agreement with them, even tho we had bad relations. I was besieging Constantinople when they declare war on me and then I had one army approaching my besieging forces forcing me to fight two armies at once which was extremely difficult and another army landed on my kingdom and started to besiege my capital, I formed an army of light spearmen and archers with one of my marshal’s. At the end I captured Constantinople but was severely weak-end by the ordeal, broke and starving, I had to deal with two rebellions and then a Muslim invasion… Jesus.

    How the hell do I manage kingdom stability and the opinions of the nobles, clergy etc? It feels entirely arbitrary when they go up or down, and going to war drops both to such a massive degree that wanting to do some conquest just doesn’t seem worth it. Managing those two mechanics is just so frustrating because the game absolutely refuses to give me sufficient information on how to manage either.

As far as I am concerned as a citizen of Romanian nationality and as a player passionate about such games, I protest against those who created the game! It is an offense to Romania, to lie that it did not exist, when the events and merits of this Power of Europe are known! Dacia, Wallachia, saved Europe from destruction, the most feared and skilled fighters who scared the Roman Empire! I will frequently attach historical notes from our European neighbors in which they praise in their poems and stories the merits of the Romanian State in its history!

    @@AndysTake no I'm not going to disagree with you this is a fun game I like it and I took your advice in this video started as Norway I took Inverness and part of Denmark. There were two famous rebellions that popped off on my borders that essentially locked half of my population and then England and Scotland and Ireland all unite and invade me so I think that's a GG but it was a good learning experience

    No games have even been shipped with unreal engine 5 yet. Plus UE5 is no different to UE4 except for the global illumination and virtualized micropolygon technology, two things you really don't need for an rts because the camera is never going to be close enough to make the visual fidelity any better.

    @@MrMiniTakitos luckly then the original KoH was a classic with a devoted fanbase and KoH2 so far is an incredible sequel. The game is awesome and really fun if you like the genre, a happy medium between crusader kings with total war style battles minus the shiny graphics that i happily accept for a much more indepth and better designed campaign than braindead total war lol
