I Completely appreciate the "Just the facts, Ma'm" presentation. I watched a Castnet video this morning where the guy repeats himself for 2 minutes before he gets into the meat of the presentation...which is why I watch most of KZread on double-speed. I'm here today because I'm wondering if a trolling motor would be a good emergency motor for my 23 foot cuddy cabin instead of another gas engine.

Awesome explanations and very helpful. I have a Minn kota riptide and a Torqeedo. The Torqueedo is quite noisy with a hum I put down to the brushless motor electronics. The Minn Kota is quiet in comparison. I use my motors on a canadian canoe and an island style outrigger. Is it a case that some brushless motors are quieter than others ?

I need a saltwater trolling motor with a spot lock feature. I fish in wind a lot and in places with lots of current. I currently have a Minn kota 24 volt on the bow, it’s a hand handle one and it’s fault annoying while fishing. Also my batteries will last me 3 hours max when fishing on a windy day. I may get some lithium batteries first just to see if I need to upgrade to a 36 volt for the future new trolling motor. I would appreciate some knowledge with people who own a boat approximately 3000 pounds plus and on 19 plus feet bay boat Center Console 🙏🏻🎣😎

good video, was wondering we mainly fish a electric motor only lake. I have a older 15 ft aluminum boat. But I put a floor, a front deck and bass seats so it is heavier now. I run two 40lb thrust and it only does about 3 mph which isn't bad with 3 people in the boat. Would a 60lb knock off out perform a 55lb minnkota? looking to get a little more speed out of it lol. or would the two 40lb motors out perform one 55lb motor? we go about a mile or so from the boat ramp, Trying to stay with a 12 volt system even though I have 2 batteries at all times. Thanks a bunch William

I was hoping for a recommendation... I'm just a simple bass fisherman. But, I do want to take advantage of the Spot-lock, and i-Pilot features. I just don't need a 12" chartplotter at each end of the boat. Right now, there are so many options, it's incredibly difficult to know what to pick, and to make sure I'm getting everything I need. That said, the cheapest setup that gives me those capabilities. Anyone in the know is welcome to answer. I'll need to have that figured out before I pick up my lithium battery upgrades.

I have a question, I've seen 40lb trolling motors with different draw, one said 40a and the other one had 34a, is it a typo or is the second one more efficient? I'm using one as the sole provider of movement on a 12ft aluminum with 2 adults and gear. In total it weighs in at about 655 loaded, my 40lb troller is about 14 years old I was thinking about giving the more efficient one a go. Thanks for any responses to that mess of a post.

Hello, i have a specific need but i don't know if that technology exists. Can the motor follow a moving target and keep a constant distance between itself and said target, let's say 60 feet away from it? I do spearfishing and sometimes we do some drifts along a reef. It would be really useful if the boat could follow us while we are drifting in the water, maybe with a device (gps transmitter) on a float that the motor can pin point and follow, or on someone on the surface. Does that exist? It could also be a great safety option when a sailor falls in the water

You are so right. I’m currently holding off on purchasing the MotorGuide Xi3-55SW - Bow Mount Trolling Motor - Wireless Control - GPS - 55lb because they don’t have te 36” version for kayaks. They have it in 48” but cutting it will void the warranty. If they were smart, they’d have realized they are losing customers. Also, their customer service is HORRIBLY TERRIBLE. They never answer their phone.

I'm not a pro here but I know enough about solar power to know solar alone would not power a boat unless you had a humongous array. It could be helpful for recharging a battery for sure. For the same reasons we don't use solar to power a car it alone could not consistently power a boat.
