That start is so accurate. Just did a game jam and every thing I added I thought would be about an hour and instead it was 3 hours trying to fix a crash followed by an hour of making the feature, followed by another 3 hours to fix a crash.

I just did a game jam, too, and I "finished" it (enough to be playable) at the last possible minute, since I was working the day of the jam deadline. I quickly begged some friends to alpha test it, and they were like, "Um... the collision is weird and if you don't move, the AI gets stuck in a loop". I was like, "You know what? I HAVE TO SUBMIT THIS, and if you don't move you can't win anyway, so GIVE ME USEFUL FEEDBACK!" 😂 Okay, I didn't say that, but I did ignore the AI "problem" for that reason and just spent some furious hours adjusting collisions.

I know right it’s kind of genius he let the robot say all that borderline false advertising marketing script so he never actually lied or lost integrity and he just said the facts like where to download. I've been programing for more than 20 years now and I still get stupid errors constantly. I'm actually amazed at how much you can get done that fast with Unity.

Just fixed my game's demo after having it broken for a month. Had to unpublish it from Google Play after receiving my first rating (1 star do to crash bug). Turned out to be a file path folder name had changed for the ads during their update! Definitely a hard hit for new a developer like me, but I'm just glad I didn't rage delete the whole damn game! 😉

Code it once to get functionality, code it again to get scalability, code one last time to achieve well written code.

Thank you for this. I also program and dabbled with machine learning and ai, I always ran into errors like this and I thought I was the dumb one and almost quit. But seeing you struggle with a toggable button for 50 min has inspired me to pick up my keyboard again. Lol. Again. Thank you so much, Jabs.

@@precumming Yes, from what I hear it pays *way* better than ad revenue will ever for the effort. Just accepting the advert can get you up to $5000, and depending on how many viewers download it you can get up to $30,000.

It wasn't this same exact issue, but I've had some Unity BS set me back an hour that was a 1-click fix before. I had the same reaction when I discovered it haha

My problem was camera wouldn't follow the main player. It was working just fine until I imported what I thought was just a airplane prefab but it also had the player tag because it was controllable so the camera didn't know who to follow. Took me a good 2 hours before I finally figured that out smh

Holy moly that raid ad was unexpected, but well implemented

This is awesome, I need this game! Also I'm only just getting into programming (not even game developing yet, maybe) so this was cool to see what this stuff could be like. Very unfortunate about that switch though, good luck with finishing the game off, I look forward to it!

Bruh it's been one day I'm working on a flutter project and I can display an Image on a container widget and than I can't display another image of the Exact same Type which was displaying before. I'm thinking of Just starting a whole new Project Altogether just so I can right the code in segments so I can find out what's working and What's not

Typos cause a majority of problems - that's why good intellisense is valued

id is #, class is dot. Typically 'container' is a class, and your css expects a class. So you have two errors to deal with there. The "t" is added interesting twist. I'm glad for autocomplete in the text editor to help me avoid that type of typo.

I tell my team that putting in new features like adding fruit to jello. Before the jello is made, we can do anything... heck, we can change flavors. While the jello is setting, it's pretty easy to shift things around and add new stuff. But once the jello is set, you are risking structural integrity by pushing in the fruit (a.k.a. new features). Sure, adding one shallow grape is probably safe... but forget adding something to the core. And even 10 shallow grapes can make the final product look like crud. Another reason to fail quickly.
