There are things of the spirit which maybe a common practice to peoples of all cultural backgrounds. In Igboland, the first son cannot be buried outside his father hometown. The carcase MUST be exhumed from any country or state to his family hometown. The reason why many people is confused about church and christianity today is because of too much of different different churches and christianity we have in the world today Because too much of things is always causing problem

Good debate! It is shocking Cardinal & his acolytes do not have convincing response even those who run to them for solution are seen as part of problems. 1. In things fall apart, Achebe presented the same issue using Unoka who went to deity to inquire cause of calamity in his life. Unoka is seen as a poor man but he is most intelligent to tell d dibia to ask his dead father how many cows he had or industry during his life time. 2.Bishops made law for funeral to hold within 2months but this core part of ceremony is still there staying both poor & rich in face. Our generation do not keep such things till when u get money or u are now rich. No. Right from primary school ur parents indirectly remind u this. So that is why money ritual, kidnapping etc are increasing. I can give u practical examples. 3. Like Achebe pointed out yrs ago, every cow killed during most funeral are linked to ancestors. In spirit world, ancestors, evil altar, familiar/ contrary spirit, dibias, spiritualist, demons, satan & Lucifer work together in this order. Just as in Catholic church we have cathedral, parishes, out stations then families: Likewise Lucifer has the same organigram. Every town has shrine bigger parish, then village shrine, kindred shrine, family shrine, then personal altar. We call it evil altar bcos demons coordinate them but report back to Lucifer. Bcos Lucifer is wise but want souls of man for his kingdom of darkness he made gullible man to see his trap as custom or omenala. This territorial demons work tirelessly to keep south east in these customs. He even provided institutions like native doctors, herbalists etc for inquires. 4. Powers/ forces need these blood from man, goat, fowl, cow for perpetuation of satanic covenant. In some communities if you don't slaughter cow for d dead it has consequences bcos u want cut generational agreement to sell the soul of d person to kingdoms of darkness. So my beloved & respected clergy should know what their defence is all about. Satan is wise but God is wiser.

Culture is a collective term used to identify ideas, customs and social behavior of a people….. Tradition is the belief that passed down from one generation to another….. Traditions are part of culture.

Nothing concern church for killing cow for your father. But I don't know why some people so foolish by carry by traditional into church. People should understand that church is religion and traditional is community tribe. Every tribe have their way of doing their traditional thing

There is no time the Church tells somebody to kill Cow for his father, it is the Villagers and the tradition that makes people to do these things to please their people.

As a Christian all those things does not matter anything, when someone dies whether you kill cow or not he or she does not know, is just people's believe and is cursing a lot of problems in some families because they do go and borrow money and after that they will be struggling to pay the money back, so for me the priest fail the answer, and is only in Igbo land all those things are still happening, In my conclusion killing a cow for someone who died for a longtime in the name of tradition is meaningless because that dead person can not do anything for the children or the family
