While I can't advocate for violence, it does seem likely that a strong statement letting Sinclair group's management know that we will not slide into a 1984 dystopia would deter such blatant propaganda maneuvering. TheMythof Feminism Orwell looks more into how our speech help us interact with other and share ideas. Both sides try to give talking points which undermind research and discussion. Becoming drones to ideas given by a large corporation or government(which limit or censor anything they dont agree with) is what Orwell fears. It isnt just left wing politics, even though its right to an extent, but also right wing politics with its use of fear revolving around terrorism and migration. Speech is the focus of Orwells book not which side is doing it. The parallels you talk about are meant to represent how any side of politics could go down this path if people arent careful with their distribution of ideas

AegisEpoch For local news, just read online articles. Not much happens locally so there isn't very much to read. Ignore stupid news like "there is a car accident on the highway!!!", "a house caught on fire" and just read local political news. And remember that there is a corporate bias.

It is very disturbing to see Sinclair do this but we need to also know Sinclair is not the only company that does this. As someone who works in broadcast news, the idea of must-run segments needs to be scrapped. Outlets should just give the facts and let their viewers form their own opinions.

They're buying local news stations, to tell the public, to not trust your local news station. That's some hilarious mental gymnastics.

My local station is currently held by Tribune. At least, until the merger goes through.

I was trying to look up the original of this today, and found it hilarious that not only did TYT report on it back at this time, but tries to claim that it was lockstep in favor of Trump when it was the opposite. Only leftists are unified on things so much that they eat their own when they oppose the mainline. Sometimes a personality on the right gets removed from a specific organization, but they almost always find a home somewhere else, because the "right" (a somewhat arbitrary term in how its defined by the left) ranges in spectrum from anything between free market libertarians/anarchists/voluntaryists to moderate socialists and bureaucrats who run as Republicans.

Sorry Cenk but I gotta quote The big short movie on this one "so now, anyone who has a boss can't be held responsible for doing shitty and illegal thing" This is journalism malpractice

All of those news actors talking like that sounds like Borg Drones from Star Trek.

That's WEIRD, I didn't hear them mention Trump one time.... Not once

Thankfully, they don't own any stations in Chicago. However, unfortunately, if their buyout is approved, our WGN channel 9 news would be a part of that deal. Smh, they are such a great news group as well. Hopefully, if they are bought out by Sinclair, they would stay truthful to us and not go along with this. A Wisconsin station didn't, and I hope WGN keeps their integrity.

I stopped watching my local Sinclair station - at the end the general manager comes on and asks if the show was fair and unbiased!
