I dont think there is a gutter guard that has butter on it and makes the leaves slide. You have to still clean them! But its less than having the leaves inside the gutter.

Ive cleaned out hundreds of gutters. Gutter guards need serviced almost as much as open gutters. Extra large gutters and downspouts to match are better than guards in most cases.

There is no gutter guard in existence that will do anything if you have any kind of evergreen tree (spruce, pine, fir, etc.) nearby. In those cases it's better to use literally nothing or else you will run into clogs almost immediately. That goes for gutter guards, downspout strainers, etc. get 3x4 downspouts, call it a day.

Raindrop gutter guards can be installed at a pitch. If you don’t get pitch going under the shingle, you can always flip the flange down and do a fascia mount install. Thanks for the comment!

Those are the wrong gutter guards regardless the aggregate from the roof is going to go through those small holes . Those are leaf guards trapping the leaves on top of the guard and letting the sand slide through the holes in the gutters making it more time-consuming to clean

I have LeafGuard myself. See my videos for how they work in the rain. They get dirty like the ones shown here and the water then sheds off the surface and does not roll into the gutter itself. So, they turn into a very expensive drip edge. The only solution is to clean the outside surface of the gutter. I have a 2 story house in some sections, so that is not something that is easy to do. It costs a lot more to clean the outside of then the inside of the gutters...so installing these more expensive gutters does not save you from cleaning the gutters and it incurs more expense in cleaning them. I just had the gutters removed from my house and I will be replacing them with standard seamless

All gutter guards are Junk, This gutterguard thing is a complete scam. Any and all installing it should be thrown in jail. It does not work, They just collect debris and actually cause more problems. If you have gutters they need Cleaned, Basic maintenance. A gutter guard is like saying you never have to change your oil in your car, Or your tires never wear out. Gutter guards are a scam big time.

  • @roofingtips

That’s a pretty hard stance you have there. No gutter guard is perfect. But a good gutter guard can minimize the frequency of maintenance. For example, raindrop gutter guards, in my area, are almost maintenance free. I have systems that are very old that are as clean as they day they were installed. On the flip side, these gutters on the homes were clogging up every single fall. So that is actually a huge improvement. There are some, and I mean some, instances where raindrop doesn’t perform well. I have seen them get clogged in inside corners, but it’s always when the flash guard is reinstalled. So it’s not even a raindrop issue, it’s a splash guard issue. Thanks for the comment though and I respect your opinion

The front edge of gutter should be on same plane as roof pitch. You should be to lay a straight edge on the roof pitch and just touch the top outer edge of gutter. Otherwise you will be susceptible to ice dams.
