❤ the studio space is great, but I applaud you for painting wearing white and light tones. I'd be covered 😂.

Haha yes, that is a risk 😄 They are dedicated painting clothes, so not to worry. Surprisingly they have very little paint on them so far!

Your new studio space looks great Jeanine. It's nice to see you painting bigger-so loose and free. May I ask, if you are going to stick with the same colour palette for these new canvases? Or will you be creating a new one to go over these beginning layers? Thanks.

Thank you! I'll create a new colour palette for these (new video coming soon 😉), but it will be quite similar to this one. But for these first layers it really doesn't matter what colours they are.

Love these. I also love how you continue the same color through all the paintings wothoutstoping and being bothered about what other color you should add. I think that's very freeing so that you don't break your flow and energy! Also what kind of paint do you.use...heavy body or fluid acrylic?

  • @jclosestudio

Thanks! So true, its very freeing to not have to stop and think about colour. That will come in later stages though. That's why I love these early layers. Anything goes! I use the Daler Rowney System 3 acrylic paints. They are a medium body, but I usually water them down a tiny bit to make them a little more fluid.

Amazing ! Love your energy doing this painting ❤.I’m happy for you that now you have this beautiful space and be able to work on bigger and many canvas in the same time. I wonder if you take time to think before adding any mark. Do you hesitate?

Thanks so much! It's such a joy working in my new studio. In these early stages I usually just go for it and rarely stop and think. The thinking however very much comes in the later stages and layers.

Thanks so much! They are Ikea Ivar corner posts, that I've mounted to the wall. I painted them white so they blend into the wall better. They have lots of holes into which I can easily stick bolts from the hardware store at whichever height I need them. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Yes! Go for it. Paper is less of a commitment, but I much prefer working on boards or canvas. You can always paint over it.

Thank you for this informative video 🙏🏼 what sort of wood do you use for your panels? I'd like to shift from canvas to panel but wondered if I could get some at the hardware store to save costs.

  • @jclosestudio

The small ones are MDF panels from the art shop, but plywood would be even better. You can absolutely get that from the hardware store. Look for 5mm thick plywood and they can usually cut it to the size you want. For larger ones (over 30cm) use cradled panels. You can probably make those too, but I get them from the art store as well.
