You are so welcome! I'm glad this was helpful. Just wanted to make a note that you can also grind your mirror backing-side down if you put something protective underneath. I like to put that thin foam wrapping that sometimes comes with packages underneath my mirror when grinding, so I don't get any scratches.

Hi! It's discontinued spectrum silvercoat. You might be able to find it in a local glass store (if you have one near by), or you can do a Google search, and syubs sites pop up that carry it.

This may be a really dumb question but….Once you’ve created your pattern on the computer do you print it in two sections, tape them together and then create your main pattern or do you have a printer for these large patterns? Excellent and very helpful videos! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you! I actually have a printer that's big enough. If I need something huge though, I'll take the file to office max or someplace!

Hi Samantha, I wanted to ask what type/ brand of gloves you are wearing to solder? I am in search of some heat resistant gloves that also provide protection from the lead, without sacrificing dexterity. I appear to be in search of a “unicorn” if my Amazon searches are to be believed. TIA.

Hi there. So when I solder, I just wear standard nitrile gloves to protect from lead, and then when I need to handle the piece, I put on a "heat resistant" glove (that's for hairstyling) over my nitrile glove. It's just a random set I found on Amazon - don't remember the brand.

Hi! I know this is almost two years after you’ve made this, but I was wondering why you didn’t wash this project with soap like your suncatchers? Is that because of the mirror? Also, I was told you can’t use water after flux removed, is that true? TIA!❤

Great question! I just used Kwik clean because the piece is on the larger size, and it was easier than washing it in the sink.

That's not always true. The person may have said that if you have hard water maybe? I know the Kwik clean bottle says not to use water after using Kwik clean. A lot of times I rinse my pieces in tap water after applying patina - totally normal.

Hi, I love going back and watching your videos. This video was very helpful. Question, that I don't know if you'll see being this video is almost 2 years old... Where did you get that magic yellow fid from? I've searched everywhere almost and can' find her... lol.

Hi!! I get this question everytime I post a video. 🤣 Unfortunately the answer is I don't know. This was always the tool my grandpa used for burnishing, and when I inherited all of his supplies, I just kept using it. I've tried searching everywhere and can't find anything! I'm pretty sure it's not made specifically for stained glass, it's called a Bourges stylus. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@SamanthaAshleyGlass Thank you for replying! The older artists always have and find/use the best stuff!!! I swear Its not fair.. lol... My toxic trait is thinking I might be able to make one...lol... torch and a plastic dowel...hahahaha. Wishful thinking I guess. Well, now another artist to help in the magic tool search...

@@Jaim- I think it was actually shaped like this, cause on the side, it says something like "keep sharpened with sandpaper." The closest I've been able to find is a tool sold in Canada used for burnishing metal work. Lol
