Watch John catch 3 swarms at once! | Professional Beekeeper in his Bee Yard [Swarm Season 2022]

In this video John catches 3 swarms at once! Well, not at the same exact moment, but sequentially. Come along with us as he gracefully takes a ride on the front-loader all the way up to the tree branches where he collects not 1, not 2, but 3 swarms!
Collecting 3 swarms back-to-back is no small feat, even for a professional beekeeper. As you can see, even John is subject to the whims of the honeybees in his Bee Yard. They pretty much do what they want, even if we have other intentions. Luckily for John, he finds a Queen that's willing to stay (we think) and this hive should be good to go. In this bee yard, almost anything goes.
It's swarm season! Are you prepared and equipped to handle a swarm? Do you have protective gear at the ready? How about a spare hive box, or even a bee brush? It's a great idea to be ready for a swarm during this season. If you're looking for an outfitter, give us a shout at Central Beekeepers Supply! We have products that cover every apiarist's needs, from jackets to feeders, from lip balm to hand-made soap, we carry everything you need to "bee" the best keeper possible. Check out our website to purchase our products!

If you have any questions, please leave a comment! We love chatting with our fellow beeks throughout the world! No matter if you're a beginner, or a professional beekeeper, let's chat! Good luck in your Bee Yard!

I’m from Ireland and living in Long Island New York since 2019. Two of my hive’s are doing well and the strongest one helped keep a weaker hive alive over winter with the help of a double screened board. Then a week ago when I made a stupid but successful split I noticed the weaker hive had a laying worker. I newspaper combined them with a nucleus box my in-law purchased and they were fine and quiet an hour later. Meanwhile the split is going well thank goodness. I’m hope to build up to five or six double deeps before the end of season just so I can have resources and option’s to build more next year.

Mug up ta' Arkansas with John and Karin. Good morning from central New Hampshire. I am located in the Lakes Region near Swam Lake, that most people from away know as 'Golden Pond'. Thanks for the solid information and videos that you provide along with all the great country shots. I'm an older, 2nd year beekeeper with a heavily insulated Layens horizontal hives. Forsythe in full bloom, mid spring daffodils in bloom. No dandelions, no clover yet. About time to cut the lawn. Temps yet to hit 70 F. this spring. Bees last '21 fly day was 12/17, first '22 was 3/15. 5/1 bees had just started capping drone comb and building drone cone on available space though out the hive. Times as they have been, your videos and others have been a ready source of information and inspiration, thanks for taking the time and sharing, Brice

I have 3 hive’s and made my first split a week ago, when I went back to the original hive I split from they had a supersedure cell capped and I panicked a little. I’m thinking nooooooo this is my strongest hive and a few minutes later I thanked god for the success in my stupidity. The original queen was in the split box and she has been laying up a storm lol. Now time will tell if this young queen is successful at flying out to mate and returning back, fingers and toe’s crossed. Loving all your video’s thank you both for the quality and the education.

I did the same except I use a lid from my swarm box put two frames and screw 1on each ends of the frames on top and I screwed 2 more screw on the pipe 3/4 inch pipe I suppose to have something stronger a black pipe more solid the bees were getting on frames I take them out that way. A idea… good luck

Here I am aching for some free colonies to fill up some hive boxes & you just tossing them away like a used up lady of the night, LoL. You the Bee Yard Pimp. On that long hive, I'd have attempting a 6 way split with those 6 Queen cells. As for these 3 swarms I'd have set each one in it's own box and let the bees go in, 3 hives right thar.

LoL I'm with you i can't stand to see a swarm in a tree no matter how big or small it is. I had 1 and was getting it in a box and another one swarmed out and landed on the box i was putting the first one in of course i did us a little bit of swarm commander. That's a good little nuc to start off i started to do the same thing and pinch the 1 queen and let them work it out but both are in the box so winner takes the box. Congratulations on not getting flipped to the moon 👏. RTBBF ❤🐝👍 got a few more videos up check them out. 👍
