The reason the fish barely touch is because fish use external fertilisation to reproduce. The eggs and sperm are dispersed in the water, and the sperm cells swim through the water to reach the eggs. This is done in many water animals due to the fact that sperm cells can’t dry out as fast in water as in land.

+Just Betta thanks for watching. from fertilization to swimming baby fish is usually a little over 20 days. in all honesty cichlids are pretty easy to breed. if you give them a big enough sized tank, do proper water changes and feed a good diet you probably wouldn't be able to stop them from breeding

+Just Betta depends on what type of cichlids. mbuna need a veggot diet so veggie pellets are good. haps and peacocks eat more meat so a standard cichlid formula pellet like northfin cichlid formula or NLS would be good. it's easy to research good foods for certain types of cichlids online. good starter cichlids are yellow labs or acei if you like the look of those. they eat more veggie foods and are very colorful

So that’s what my fish been doing lately lol it’s quite intriguing lmao.
