One thing I learned while working in construction in the Bay Area, professional arson is a real thing. Quite common if you believe what the older guys say.

I am confused, I understand that a small residential property such as a two storey house is constructed from timber in the US because of speed and affordability. But surely a large multi-storey residential property would be constructed from non-flamible materials such as concrete, steel, brick etc to limit the spread of fire? Plasterboard has a limited thermal lifespan but the substrate will give additional time. Why?

As a British person I can't understand why so many building sites catch fire in the US. What would happen if the building had been occupied?

They use a lot more timber in their building, I think this is one of the reasons why.

It’s crazy cause they set the one in Sacramento in fire as well. Wasn’t completed. Made it faster to burn

I have so many questions. In this video, it only shows one ladder pipe in action. Meaning, at the top of the extended ladder there is a nozzle, and it flows water. It’s too far away from the Fire building, and if you look closely there stream, barely hits the façade of the fire building. I see some engines with their deck gun in operation protecting exposures. Then in the background, I see several deck guns closer to the building, putting water on the fire through the second, or third floor windows. In a fire, such as this, it would be called a defensive Fire. Meaning no firefighters entered the building fight this fire. So, you would have multiple aerial water pipes in operation. I don’t see that. Also, this fire went to 8 alarms. Meaning you had 150 or so firefighters, fighting a defensive fire. I really think that this building was meant to burn down. They called so many alarms, because they couldn’t have any collateral damage. Meaning those firefighters, we’re probably protecting a couple city blocks from falling burning embers Very fishy..!!

Thats funny, I was thinking the same thing.

Someone did not want affordable housing and the people it would bring, in the neighborhood.

That was a good decision made to spray the property to save it but damn dont flood their house!!!!

Very obvious that flammable insulation was used in these buildings, probably illegally. Fire department is keeping the outside skin cool, hoping that the remnants will into the center, then cool it down. Only the metal scaffolding is left of this shell. Very bad construction technique, essentially a disaster looking to happen. Seen this before in dozens of other similar sites.

The plaster boards aren't installed, it's supposed to be the only thing to warranty the fire proofing of the building, obviously it's stupid.

They made a building out of fuel what did you think would happen ,Imagine if people had moved in ,many would be displaced .So how much did you save building it with wood instead of concrete you losers.

im stating its unfair these firefighters get paid just a bit more then fast food workers in cali where this fire was. im not hating im saying they should get paid more and 25$ /hr is literally what they pay panda express workers here! Its crazy!
