You know just because you had a bad experience or two with some upset ad employees doesn't mean all ads are bad, they're frustrated they can't sell watches either. It's really wrong that you would lump them all together.

Wish I could've been in the room with these guys to tell my story...walked into a Rolex AD couple years ago & inquired about a GMT, sales associate looked me in the eye & said in a condescending way, "You'll never have one." Funny thing; I lifted up my sleeve & flashed a Coke & said "good thing I've already got one" she didn't know what to say. Disheartening to see a brand you're passionate about be represented like that.

@@JayJay-he9bk yes you can. The fact that these are common experiences in ADs tells you Rolex needs to take control of their brand back. The ADs don't have to get quality employees because the watches sell themselves. The answer is to just have a system of strikes. If there are 3 strikes at a dealer in a decade that's too many. Just revoke the dealer status.

When my interest in Rolex ended was when I popped into a boutique between meetings. When they buzzed me in they look uninterested and asked what I wanted there. As I was replying, one of the employees walked up to me and, no kidding, looked at my shoes and walked away. They told me straight out "we do not add anyone more to our list". Your list? There are many more places I can go spend my money. Later that year the company I worked for had an IPO and vowed to not buy into their hype ever again.

Alot of these suit and tie stores are just too uptight and give you that up and down judgment look. Hate that. As a customer, Im not here to impress you. Im here to buy a watch that i worked hard to afford. I love how most Grey market dealers provide a comfortable fun environment and are usually in nice jeans and a shirt just like myself. Had a new manager come in at my job during covid (not jewelry or anything). His philosophy is, if it's not bolted to the floor we'll sell it if it makes the customer happy. Yes, we have limits and hard stops but we're never against them about it. Somethings just can't be done or be done timely or easily. And we explain that. Everyone is understanding and Nico said it perfectly, "they're not an interruption to our work," they are the work. With that in mind, no one is looking for flak, especially in public or expecting it in places where one expect's that at THIS (any really) price tag, it won't be there. If they're looking for something specific and it can't be done, that just means there's a different sale to be made so make it. They're in the shop, guide them to it. At least they know they're welcome to buy something and you're open to selling to them. Even if no sale is made if they leave better off than when they came in then job done. They found a spot.

I was expecting them to look down on me as I am very much a blue collar guy. The sales lady was very welcoming and immediately asked how I was doing and if I needed help. She showed he her inventory and let me try them on and I made a purchase with her. She gave me her card and wrote her personal cell # on it and a few months later I made another purchase with her the second time I texted her ahead of time and she held a watch for me and I came straight from work so I looked a bit rough that time. I love going into big Rolex stores, I’ve been to them all over Asia, like in Hong Kong etc, I walk in, and literally give them the finger at the slightest of bad attitude they show or dirty look they give me, and walk out. It’s actually fun😂

Last time I went to a Rolex AD there was literally nothing on the shelves and nobody came out to talk to me, I walked into the IWC dealer that shared a door with them and the guy talked to me for an hour, let me try on every single watch I wanted, he opened the glass wall case and said grab anything you want, he was incredibly knowledgeable and an obvious watch guy, didn’t care one bit who I was, what I did, or if I was even interested in purchasing a watch, he just seemed genuinely happy to talk watches, amazing experience. I had a somewhat similar situation at a Breitling dealer, great situation, offered coffee and any Watch I wanted. Watches should be fun, period!

The first AD I went into in my town wrote me off without even holding a conversation with me. The second AD treated me fantastic, as you’d expect. I was able the get the watch I wanted in a few months (SD43) and have had other watches since with very minimal wait. Nothing but respect, even get birthday and anniversary cards. Seriously, the way I’d expect an AD to be.

I walked into a rolex boutique in Singapore, I was wearing a 2021 Pepsi GMT on my wrist. The stupid woman wouldn’t even let me try on a Tudor watch… I left in a huff, as I’m leaving she sees my Pepsi. The way she treated me was simply because of my race, no other reason.

I went to the Rolex store in Sydney and knocked on the door and a guy came to the door and said without opening the door that someone would be with me shortly. After 10mins I was still waiting outside and decided to say fu to them and walked across the road and bought a cracking omega. I’ll never go to Rolex again
