Cops in this game has the best driving skills, I like the way how they could avoid hitting civilian cars while pursuing the protagonist and they could even avoid spike strips too unlike other games, making it harder to lose cops in this game because of their driving skill dude XD

The good police driving might be attributed to the fact this game engine was built by Reflections for the Driver game that was scrapped

I agree that it's interesting that CPD in WD1 are competent drivers where as LSPD in GTA V will drive like frigging maniacs. But then, if you think about it, WD1 is set in a world where Corporate runs the world and most likely the Police. If I knew that any damages to the super expensive car I was driving would be taken out of my paycheque or even cost me my job, I'd watch my speed even if the guy had murdered the whole city!

What makes a video game fun: 1% graphics 1% art, music, ambiance 1% fixed bugs 1% hype 96% quality of enemy AI

I also noticed while playing that there accuracy is really precise while shooting with a gun than in Watch Dogs 2. They aim for the head. While they fight against A.I. enemies they still can report to dispatch the players location if the police see the player. In addition the driving is way better than in Watch Dogs 2. But the video was excellent👍

The CPD driving in WD1 is impressive

An interesting detail is that if you hack traffic lights behind an occupied patrol car they will comment on the radio saying multiple lines like "what the hell?"

15:02 - that huge display on the background is the visual definition of irony.

Not sure if a bug, an intended feature, or just bad luck, but the CTOS scan may sometimes lock-on to your vehicle or Aiden himself if you jam it multiple times. I must say, the police and faction A.I. in car chases are more realistic in this game than Watch Dogs 2. In the sense they don't try to drive recklessly if possible and seem to act like they care about their own self preservation at the very least. Also, their is an interesting observation and possibly a bug with one of the game's factions. In free roam, if you prolong a shootout with The South Club - done by triggering a mob reinforcement call from a street crime, killing all but one, hide and escape, and then regain their attention - you can raise the mob's "wanted level" if done repeatedly. When the CTOS alert level is at 3 or above, CPD officers on foot will spawn and directly assist the mobsters. They will even communicate to them as if they were fellow officers. Considering the South Club has several cops on their payroll according to the story, this could be a half-baked feature with this particular faction (along with an apparent "wanted level" for criminal factions). This does not happen with other groups. Instead, only their members will fight it out with you.

I thought I was the only one who knew that, I thought it was cool how the heat system affected the other factions as well and at higher heat levels, alongside having more members spawn, they may also send elites in unique cars. A shame it's not used to its full extent, I've only seen it used in a couple missions when you gotta escape the Viceroys the game automatically sets your heat up high. By the way, the easiest way to raise heat for that is to cap civis while they're onto you, I abused this a lot just to see what i can do with that.

@@LedYouAshtray I like to keep it clean so for me, so it takes a little longer for the alert level to rise. It does allow for a prolonged battle against Chicago's criminal underworld. The longest I was able to keep it up was around an hour & 30 min. in real-time with the Viceroys. The warzone engulfed all of Mag (Mad) Mile / River North and bits of The Loop / Downtown. The last time that area of Chicago saw so much wreckage is when Transfomers filimed on location. Frames remain a consistent 30 fps despite all the smoke, and NPCs running, driving, and gunning about. Died when a taxi ran me over...

Loved the enforcers in this game compared to the second one since they made em intimidating like the bulldozer from payday

But thats what more realistic Swat officer looks like in WD-2.I think overall they did good in both game and improved a lot things in wd-2.But then downgraded a lot in legion to the point it doesn't even feel like watch dogs game.

@@contra7631 Exactly to that point, i hate making videogames as realistic as you possibly can, i want a police force in an open world that feels like a force to be reckoned with rather than just bog standard cops, if you're gonna add a juggernaut then you better make it sound and look like a brick shithouse of destruction. 2 did improve on a few of the open world things, yet the missions and story took a major nosedive in interest, enjoyment, and a proper sense of motivation when it came to being invested. I despised the idea of DedSec being run by a bunch of angsty young adults who get their cocks off with booze and drugs. I preferred it when they were a faceless group that worked from the shadows with even their assailants or active followers don't know much about their higher ups either. Then there's the main antagonist, instead of being a proper villain who will actually be a thorn in your backside its just a bog standard corporate head who'll get replaced by someone exactly like them if not worse.

AI in this game have a nice pathfinding tbh they literally drive on the park (pedestrian only) to get you. Avoiding obstacles too. just wish the cops are less trigger happy, hoping for a mod like that. Note: AI pathfinding is only good when they have objective or goals, they end up circling in one place if they job is just too drive on the city.

The police is really annoying in Online Activities such as Online Hacking or Online Observation

Currently playing WD while watching this. Something to note down is that when you have the police chopper in you, if you drive into a train tunnel, the chopper will wait for you in the other side of the tunnel. It just happened to me as I'm typing this.

Thanks man, this really cleared up a lot of the confusion. Probably the most complex police behavioural game I've played

So at 6:38, I'm pretty sure he said: "I've been hit!" Mainly because you not only hit him, but also it doesn't sound like Apprehend, sounds more like Hit. Good video though, I love watch dogs more then the sequel, mainly because the police helicopter isn't fucking annoying.

I was walking with the police after a chase once to see what they would do and a random NPC stole another NPC's wallet so as a natural reaction, the police just turned around and shot me dead for no reason.

Annoying thing in wd2 is police may usually drive past your hiding spot, and if you have no cover they may see you. Once I hid in some weird kind of dam, and it was in a neighbourhood below the roads. Police drove straight down there in search mode Luckily I lost them before they noticed me.

The one about them calling the police if an NPC shoots you is kinda bs ngl. I've been shot at by criminals while chasing them and yet I'm the one who gets the police after me for trying to stop a criminal. I've died before I've even caught them because of that

My biggest complaint is the Ambulance and the Fire Department are not doing their jobs while they're in Chicago. I don't get their existence in the game. Not like in Grand Theft Auto when they actually do their job descriptions.

Yeah, I've followed both responding and they just drive around in circles like lunatics not actually responding anywhere just using lights and sirens driving around. This game was definitely rushed had Ubisoft not been pushed to release it they could of made some good features because the AI in this game is actually good.

paramedics are bugged in gta also.Sometimes they work,sometimes they dont.But in Watch Dog-2 they actually work.

my best option to escape is the boat but u neeed the air patrol intercept cuz it will continue if the copter is chasing u

This game does allow for some good old fashioned police chases, no cops shooting from cars or on the streets like in so many games. It does give me those Driver 2 vibes, especially that it takes place in Chicago.

Sadly the physics are too arcadey and the cops rubber banding is absurd, it's like they got a rocket up their ass. I wish it had Driver 2's physics and much more focus on chases than crappy hacking mini games. I've heard it was supposed to be a Driver game actually.

Holy shit YES!!! The police AI is sooo good in some areas, but absolutely mental in others. I swear I see a crime happening where somebody is robbing someone's money and that npc is shooting with a pistol, clearly nearby civilians will report to police. You want to go after the shooting thief, but then police comes after YOU. EVEN THOUGH THEY JUST PASSED THE THIEF THAT WAS SHOOTING AT ME. I DON'T EVEN HAVE FIREARMS. WHYYYYYYYYYYY

Very nice! Great job, greece! I mind have looked it but did you mention that melee takedowns on cops won't affect your reputation at all? Overall, I enjoyed the game back then, yet found the police snipers frustrating with their dead-on accuracy and the fact they won't no longer arrest you at act 3. Yet, I loved how you can escape by either hiding or getting out of the zone, compared to other games, a realistic aspect. Still, I enjoyed the "kill cam" when you disable a vehicle via environment hacks, it has a satisfying aspect to see your work, as such, I found it a pity it's no longer in Watch Dogs 2

If the hacks kill cops, it can affect your reputation but its inconsistent. Other times it will affect, other times it won't, the game is pretty buggy as it is. Using melee takedowns won't affect the reputation but may affect the heat levels to escalate. The sniper can be dodged but very difficult in doing so, I'm not sure if they are intended to be difficult to dodge or cheated. The A.I is pretty cheated as whole, something which WD2 fixed on. :)

@@Thekillergreece Yep. As such, I am eager about Watch Dogs legions. And due to the pedestrians reacting to gunshots, I prefer stealth in both games, yet was glad when takedowns didn't affect reputation, was useful when I was in a pitch with the police

@@Thekillergreece You can dodge the sniper from the helicopter but the movement must be fast or else the sniper whether hits the player or the engine of the vehicle. In rare cases even if the chopper was hacked the sniper still resumed his job

As a person who played Gta games and Driver 1,2 and 3. Watch Dogs 1 is literally a mix of them when it comes to gameplay and police. And not to mention a unique thing Hacking!! You could even hack obstacles to create major damage to police vehicles forcing them to stop chasing you. And thats why this is my favourite game besides Crash bandicoot and Red dead redemption 2.

Are you gonna do videos on the Cops in the Saints Row Series or Sleeping Dogs? In SR2, if you are wanted while on a Bike, the Cops will also be on Bikes.

I did some easy chase by hiding somewhere that the police pathfinding cannot be scripted.
