I went through this same exercise awhile back and decided on the DS30. To me the Damasko looks like a more modern interpretation of the pilot watch and a little more unique. When they released the bracelet I picked that up too and it takes it to the next level in my opinion, although the price of the bracelet is uncomfortable. To me the braclet solves the problem of the DS30 looking too sporty or rugged for the dressier occasions and brings it closer to the Explorer look. If you enjoy the look of a German made pilot watch I dont think either choice is regrettable.

Nice video! No... Make that a Great Video!!!! 👍 After much research, and deliberation, I ordered a Damasko DS30 w/white seconds hand on the black leather strap this past Sunday. You might say it's a birthday gift to myself on my 66th birthday. 🙂 I have never, ever, spent so much time deciding on a new watch! It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. And, to this day, I have never even seen a Damasko or Sinn in person. Years ago, I wanted a Sinn 656. At the time, it was out of my budget. Today; the 856 is out of my budget. What it came down to for me after looking at many brands, watching lots of videos; I wanted a hardened case and at least a 40mm case width. The 39mm of the DS30 with that big dial should work for me. And, I'm a guy that mostly wears 42mm watches. We will see!

Is DAMASKO Ds30 wearing well? How is it suit you? Is the big dial make 39 mm optically bigger? What is your wrist size? I have 7 inch and I am thinking to buy DAMASKO DS30.

​@@loe7717: Been awhile! I sold my DS30 a couple of years back. My wrist is 7.5", and the DS30 wears quite well on me. I am actually thinking about getting another Damasko, or maybe the Sinn 556i.

ETA and Sellita were partnered in the past. ETA used to have Sellita assemble their movements. Patents expired and Sellita started producing "clones". With ETA cutting off supply.. Sellita is here to for the foreseeable future. The toughest choice between the two, for me, is the superior case hardening Damasko provides. The offset is the value retention of the Sinn on the secondary market. Get the one you like most.

water resistance for both these watches is the s same - 200 metres, the damask is not 100 metres.

What a conflict trying to decide between these german watches, bottom line for me seem that you can't go wrong with either. Damasko would ve my choice. Interesting case material.

Can you review the dk30 and compare to the 556 and ds30

I have the DS 30 and I absolutely love it, but picked up the emerald green Sinn 556 and it is a real strap monster. Love them both but the Damasko is the better watch.

I picked up the Damasko cause someone had one used. I think they’re both awesome companies however I am more impressed with Damasko considering they are now making in house movements. That’s a huge step really.

Love Damasko for one of the reasons you mentioned

The newer Damasko DS30 has a 200m water resist, the older version was 100m.

Did you finally decide for one of them? DS30 or 556A? I owned both but had to sell one to finance a new purchase (you know how this goes, there’s always another watch). In the end I preferred the Sinn for several reasons, some of them where mentioned in your video. It’s a good topic and a tough choice, great vid!

Damasko DS 30 has 200m. water resistance and a better movement, far better case and is more than 1mm thinner. Cheaper too! Why are you even comparing these two watches? The superior product is obvious. Sinn used to be the value king. Not anymore, and this is not just my opinion.

@@ocb05 You can find it on Watchbuys.com. Been a while since I looked, but it’s probably around $1,800. The nice thing about the 856 (vs 556) is that it is slightly bigger at 40mm. Plus it has much better technology than the 556. But, both are great watches! No losers here!

Damasko DS 30 has an awesome bracelet. Far better than Sinn. This video is either old or these guys don’t know what’s available.

“Technology in the ds”??? So…. The metal is slightly different? 1 in 924 watches worn in the world would be affected by that. 🤷‍♂️

I have a Sinn 104 and I think Damasko ds30 is my next watch. Then again I see good deals on Sinn 556 on ebay sometimes.

I think the 556 fits in as a watch that does it all. You can wear it everyday or dress it up much like a Rolex Explorer. But the tech and the price of a D30 is hard to beat. Why not get both 😜.

Selitta is great. But nobody wants a “cloned” movement.
