@ultimatums1 Because she is guilty of falsifying evidence, which caused innocent people to be convicted of crimes they didn't commit. They were incarcerated due to that falsifying. Jail should be mandatory for the judge.

Judges should b made to explain there decisions as to why a certain sentence is emposed in certain high profile cases this certainly Is one.. hi ho hi ho it's off the bench she goes.

As a judge you have the obligation to be fair and balanced. This judge was an example of what a judge should not be. She was biased and knew what her decision was when the case started. She would never do this for anyone else.

She does this for the rich, well connected, those who can enrich her and for people like Ms. Vela. You or I would serve all 6 years in jail, long probation after serving plus community service. I didn’t know you could pay $10.00 for an hour of community service. What does that teach someone. A poor person can’t afford to buy out their sentence but Ms. Vela and family/friends will pay it off. That is why Justice has her eyes blindfolded so she doesn’t have to see the corrupt judges, politicians, cops, doctors,, etc who cheat the system over and over. I’m surprised that the scales are still appearing to be balanced when the scales are completely tipped. Cheers!

I’ve been in the courtroom and the drunk driver who was underage and killed my friend, received a 10 year sentence suspended and 10 years of probation instead because she had “her whole life ahead of her” according to the judge. Never mind that my friend’s life was violently taken away by walking home from work. How is that justice?!

I see this in Philadelphia all the time. 10 years for murder suspended because they have no room in the prison. I couldn't believe how packed they are. They have every square inch used. They have 4 person bunk beds with 6 inches between them. It is insane. We really need to build a lot more prisons

The judge said many people spoke with a disrespect in their voice, sorry judge, I think you meant they had a lack of respect for her. They had no respect for her because her actions earned no respect. She deserved so much worse punishment. No one care her family loves her. You are bang on. Criminal breach of trust is a very serious crime. The courts look at white simply. If you rob somebody at gunpoint , you have committed felony Robery. ,. If you are entrusted with finances, then steal the money, the court consider that as bad if not worse than a armed robbery. The reason being you have. " Breached the trust. ". The judges words are empty and contradictable, one minute she says this country respects the law and then gives a ridiculous sentence so the Judge doesn't respect the law.

If you don't like it, go to your SENATORS/REPRSENTATIVES and change the law!!!! ALL JUDGES have to go by the laws that are implemented!!!! Go change this, go to your legislature!!!!!!!! Judge Celia J. Meza, repeat that name. .... that's the way to get her voted out. She seems to think this is a victimless crime, because it doesn't meet her "blood and guts" bar. Nobody was physically injured, oh for the love of God. The judge seems angry about the level of contempt in victim's voices, and considered that in "assessing their credulity." So, n other word,s she didn't find those witnesses credible. For the love of God. "LAWS ARE IMPORTANT" ? than give her a sentence that reflects that.

A man who wasn’t guilty who was put in jail rises to blood and guts. His freedom was taken. That’s a kick in the nuts and a knife in the back when a cop fixes the case. The man’s kid’s were victims and I bet they feel this case rises to blood and guts. What judge makes her decisions based on blood and guts? Embezzlement, tax evasion, etc. No bruises but they matter. Lying police officers who put innocent people in jail, no problem because there’s no bruising. Sweet! Cheers!

For those who don’t know/haven’t heard about the case: Vela was facing between two years probation and 10 years in prison after a jury on Sept. 1 found her guilty on two felony counts of tampering with records. Barrientes Vela presented Rodriguez Park security payment logs that she knew to be false, after coming under criminal investigation.

I was glad to see all the comments thinking the same way I do. She needs to go…she is corrupt.

This is exactly how it is in the counties that I was an adult probation officer for 28 years. The judge ordered just like all others.

The worst part of this is all of the other police and elected officials in that courtroom just learned how easily they can break the law and get away with a slap on the wrist... Disgusting!!!! It looks like a room full of criminals colluding, shaking hands and thanking each other for making a mockery of the legal system.

No, the worst part is her kids are blaming the DA for their mother's criminal actions and now being convicted and unfortunately, not sentenced the way anybody else would be. Criminal working as an officer of the law, giving all LEOs a bad name, and her own family blames others.

I believe suspended sentence means if you break the 5 yr probation, you go to prison to complete the sentence....plus additional sentencing for a new offense. She won't be able to hold any type of state license or job.

Most non-violent first-time offenders get probation. It is the courts' way of giving you a final chance in life. If you break the terms of the probation, you could end up serving the sentence. I think that's fair.

She can pay off 300 hours of community service at $10.00 for each hour. Expect a go fund me next for the 300 hours. Make the lying cheat clean out septic tanks, trucks and the silos they put all the crap in. She will get the easiest job at Habitat for Humanity. No contact orders , probation, suspended sentence on 6 years. This system is very strange. Some people get the book thrown at them , others get dunked with excessive punishments. Total chaos.
