Thank you! Best of luck on your retirement plans.
On the kilometer side… switch your gps to use km in the States to help you recalibrate your mind of how far things are in a new system.

Another thing you can do is change your phone's OS to Japanese. We use our phones every day, and if you have to read Japanese to use it, you'll learn very fast. Years ago, I started using Japanese voice to text. It's a great way to check pronunciation.
Thank you for producing these great videos! My wife and I will be taking a tour June 21-July 6, so most things will be taken care of. What should we expect as far as the weather goes? Best, John

It should be very warm, but bearable. There might be a few days of rain.More details here: Best time to visit Japan (Japanese weather) kzread.info/dash/bejne/iGR_m7qIfcXLoaw.html I’ve added timestamps so you can skip to the relevant month.
Hokkaido doesn't have a rainy season... looks like that's where I'm going! Always good to hear your perspective. Great channel.

I am thinking about going there when it's rainy season in Tokyo.
Haha very funny with the PC point, I have a story from my last time in Japan. I was standing outside a 7-11 in Oshiage and a kid, after looking at me for a while, asked her mum what colour I am, to which her mother replied 'mocha colour.' I found it quite funny and pretty cute if anything, it's mostly just curiosity and maybe also a lack of knowledge about other cultures and peoples perhaps!

It's mostly curiosity, especially when children say things like that.
It's an amazing video with a lot of precious information. What about the earthquakes,do you know by any chance is there any hazard map of Japan?

Most are no big deal. It's the big ones that scare me.

Guess vegans can always go and buy a noodle sandwich also do you think they would call a person fat if the clothes don't fit, due to having a lot of muscle

If your shirt is too tight because you train, I don’t think anybody would say anything. It’s usually people who are out of shape that get the most flack.

People will call you fat, it's not considered taboo or impolite (if they say it casually). But if you're big because of muscles, then obviously they won't call you fat, they'll call you buff (kinnikuman).

There is a term that I don't completely understand, "macho". Since I grew up in the US and speak a little Spanish, I always thought that was a good thing. But I think it's used when a person doesn't know if you have to wear an oversized suit coat because you're carrying a few extra pounds around the waste line, or if it's because you've been lifting. One of my coworkers said I looked "macho" when I had been going to the gym quite a lot, so I guess it might be a good thing.
