To have it consecrated in the holiest spot in Christendom is amazing. Been there and it’s something else. Another Byzantine tradition handed down to the modern coronation like some of the vestments King Charles III will use.

King Charles’ grandmother Princess Alice, later Princess Andrew of Denmark and Greece, was an extraordinary woman. She was studied by Freud and in my eyes tortured by the psychiatrist in the ward she was kept in. She played a key part in getting Jewish people out of the country and even hid a family in her home. She was deaf and really used it to her advantage. Her life story is fascinating and she deserved to be buried up on that Holy Hill on the Mount of Olives.

Fun Fact: In Greece there's a rumour that the -then- Prince of Wales had secretly converted to Orthodoxy. The interesting part of the story is that this specific rumour started from an article of The Guardian that suggested that Charles could have been baptized during one of his numerous trips to Holy Mount Athos. In any case His Majesty has great affection for Orthodoxy as proven by his will to be consecrated with orthodox Holy Oil in a coronation service where Greek orthodox choirs will sing hymns.

His father converted from Greek Orthodox to Church of England when he married Elizabeth. As for Charles, if the Church of England is anything like other Protestant denominations, he doesn't give up being a member of the Church of England if he is baptized Greek Orthodox. Unlike the Roman Catholic religion, Protestant denominations only require that you have been baptized as a Christian to be a member.

The oil is fascinating. Have any of you listened to the podcast (the ancient tradition) on the coronation? I listened to it this morning and it was really interesting...it tied the coronation back to the Garden of Eden and the Tree of life...oil from the tree. Worth a listen.

For what is a Christian King if he's not anointed by the Holy Oil. Medieval Christian coronation was always preceded by the imposition of Holy Oil. It's more important and basis for legitimacy than the crowning. Monarchs of Spain are to be anointed than crowned, but Felipe VI chose to abandon the tradition and opt for the allegiance to the constitution-why not just elect a president?

Yes, the dignity of the crown is anointed in him at that moment of the ceremony. It's a moment between him and God, it states, which is why this part of the ceremony will be private.

Yes, but this is a cultural nod to his late father who was born in Greece and was raised Greek Orthodox before his conversion to Anglicanism. This source of the blessing of the oil does not detract from his role as Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

Prince Charles is not the antichrist. He's an antichrist but not 'the' antichrist.

Entering the building housing the Crown Jewels, one must take two rights before seeing anything related to the coronation. In the first darkly lit room, there’s two gold objects on the right. One is a spoon used to pour anointing oil on the monarch and the second within the same window is a gold object with an eagle on the top used to pour anointing oil in the spoon. The spoon and other object within the same glass case is the closest to the entry door and is against the wall. Next up northwest (or actually southeast because of the two rights taken) and standing independently is a sword with scabbard. Behind it is a path with words lit on the wall which has a message. You take this path to go around the sword with scabbard leading you to 2 out of three Coronation Regalia in the first case. Before we go any further, we must describe the phenomenon surrounding the appearance of 2 out of 3 of the coronation regalia. These Coronation Regalia and following Crowns are presented in glass cases parallel to the direction you enter the room. First there is a path, beneath that is the series of cases containing the coronation regalia and Crowns of importance to the British Monarch. Next up is a tram which moves guests seeking to just observe these two coronation regalia and crowns without reading any description. Lastly, there is a small staircase leading to what functions as a balcony overlooking guests on the tram passing by the coronation regalia and following crowns. The balcony gives descriptions along the now parallel hand rail and it is overlooking the two coronation regalia in the first glass case and the remaining Crowns. The Sovereign’s Sceptre with cross and the Sovereign’s Orb are in the same case but there’s a 2nd Sceptre behind the Orb, and in front of the Orb is the Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross that has the famous Cullinan I diamond. The Crown at the end of this series of cases is enclosed by a glass case, has a diamond in it and is considered to the the Crown worn by the Queen Mother. At this point in the tour, one would believe that this Crown is the Imperial State Crown the last part of the Coronation Regalia but it isn’t, it’s a part of Crowns important to the British Royal Family. After seeing these Crowns, one must continue to proceed to a new part of the first room. In the corner and against two walls are a series of Crown Jewels, gold items used in the coronation of the monarch: plates; tankards; salts etc. the Tower of London tries to hide certain numbers associated with these crown jewel items from where the guest is standing observing the Crown Jewels just due to the fact that there they don’t want every guest looking at and knowing all of the Crown Jewels so they purposely make it difficult to read the title of the item and find it in the display case. Thus far, the room is shaped in the form of a letter “C” starting from the end and working to the beginning. At this point to see the Imperial State Crown, one must head in the opposite direction of the start of the letter “C” and enter the next room containing just the Imperial State Crown. There are Yeomen watching guests watch the Coronation Regalia in the beginning of this tour and there certainly is a Yeoman in the second room watching guests observe the Imperial State Crown. In conclusion, one must approach the Tower of London not from London Bridge Station but from a Station which is on the same side of Tower Bridge as the Tower of London to avoid entering the campus and walking past the exit just to get to the entrance. A better approach would be from Bank Station which would lead a thief to a much closer to the entrance entry to the Tower of London. The Yeoman watching the Imperial State Crown mentioned while I was in the room, that they “don’t want anyone getting a layout of the room” which could explain why pictures aren’t allowed. Furthermore, any would be thief must need to know where to take the Coronation Regalia to throw off defending followers of the Coronation Regalia. The Cullman II diamond in the Imperial State Crown looked disappointing. A thief should only pursue the Cullinan I diamond in the Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross as that diamond is a lot more impressive that the one in the Imperial State Crown

Can someone help me to understand something. Is the Orthodox Church blessing an oil for Charles III??? Anglicanism is in contradiction with Orthodoxy, as is obviously the life of Charles and even modern British monarchy. There is nothing sacred in Christianity either about his reign, or his throne, and he and his faith are in contradiction with the Orthodox Church. I can't believe an Orthodox priest can bless this person and this throne but still somehow Orthodoxy refrains from a connection and dialogue with Catholics, let alone bless a Catholic-Orthodox marriage.

Does he really deserve the blessed oil from the Holy Land? Let the city first be free from any legislative rule to give access from all over the world to visit. Be it Moslems, Christian’s or Jews.
