My father who immigrated to Canada from Haiti in 1970 always told me from a young age about the symbolic day of May 9 and how the world should honor the sacrifice the Red Army and the Russian people made during WW2. Although I have no family who were directly affected by this war, I have made sure to start speaking to my 9 year old son about this just like my father did to me back in the 70's. Russians acted like an animals. There was no “liberation” by red army, they did even worse things to civilians than Nazi. My polish and ukrainian great-grandfathers were fighting on the soviet side in this war and they used to reminisce that people of “liberated countries” were so terribly scared of Russians that they were hiding wherever they could, because soviet frontline soldiers that have just left this place, were raping and killing whoever they wanted. After war, Stalin have created the greatest lie of all, which is called “liberation by Soviet Army”. It was not liberation. Communism destroyed evil of nazism and continued the same thing, using similar methods. And people here in Central Europe still remember that, that’s why we don’t like Russians so much.

We celebrate those few veterans that are still alive and the memory for those that are dead including both of my grandfathers. We have a VERY good memory and hope we pass this tradition of parades to our children and grandchildren. As we say" No one is forgotten. Nothing is forgotten !" There is not a single family in post- Soviet countries that was not affected by the war. The USSR lost over 24,000, 000! people half of which were civilians. It was a genocide of Slavic population whom the Nazis considered subhuman. We won against all the odds. I believe that we have all the right to celebrate this day our way whether the rest of the world likes it or dislikes it.

Мой покойный отец закончил войну 11 мая в Австрии, почти ничего не говорил нам о войне, тк это было очень больно снова возвращаться в ТО ВРЕМЯ... Потом закончил военно-морское училище им. Дзержинского в Ленинграде и отслужил в подводном флоте до выхода в запас. Но ещё и потом работал в штабе Черноморского флота в Севастополе. На войне, молодым мальчиком, командовал взводом пулемётчиков и всегда вспоминал о том, каких разных национальностей были его бойцы... Последние годы был капитаном 1 ранга и уже инвалидом войны... Вечная им память и слава!!!

В нашей стране ни слова не говорится о тех огромных жертвах, которые принесли простые советские граждане и солдаты в борьбе с нацизмом, и как раз 4 и 5 мая президент Украины был в нашей стране и присутствовал в эти дни. Это причинило мне боль. Помните, что нацизм не умер, он скрылся после войны и больше так не называется, но во многих западных государствах появляются явления, напоминающие о том времени. Поэтому удивительно, как много европейских лидеров поддерживают страну, в которой явно присутствует нацизм. Демократия разрушается. Теперь Россия снова идет на многие жертвы, чтобы снова подавить поднимающийся нацизм. Спасибо вам за это.

Lots of respect from Belgium. But I always had the question what army units wear what uniforms. We see them marching through Red Square with all their different uniforms on, and it's so satisfying to watch but can anyone please explain to me which branch of the Russian Army wears what uniform in the parade? For example the Russian soldiers with the green uniforms with red berets and red shoulder patches, the same once but with green berets, the soldiers with the black uniforms and white hats, the soldiers with dark blue uniforms and blue berrets, the soldiers with blue uniforms and blue hats, the soldiers with the cyaan hats, the soldiers in light brown uniforms with red berets, the soldiers in dark blue uniforms with red berets.

Green uniforms with red berets and red shoulder patches - National Guard of Russia, the same once but with green berets - Border Guard, the soldiers with the black uniforms and white hats - marines (naval infantry), the soldiers with dark blue uniforms and blue berrets - aerospace forces, the soldiers with blue uniforms and blue hats - I do not remember, the soldiers with the cyaan hats - airborne, the soldiers in light brown uniforms with red berets - military police, the soldiers in dark blue uniforms with red berets - seem to be engineer troops. In black robes - cossacks.

My grandad was sent over late 45, his job was to clean up bodies, he returned home a different man. My dad told me that when he was a boy my grandad would often scream and cry, I never knew my grandad he passed away when I was a baby. I appreciate the sacrifices made of all people from all countries but especially Russia. Regardless of western media, I will always appreciate Russia for the efforts its people made. Best wishes from UK

General Salyukov (commander of the parade) made a report to Defence Minister General Shoigu (reviewing the parade) declaring that troops are formed and present for the parade. Basically he said the following: “Comrade defence minister of Russian Federation, the troops of Moscow garrison are formed for the parade commemorating 78th anniversary of victory in Great Patriotic war. Commander of the parade General of the army Salyukov reporting”. Just a ceremonial thing.

Сегодня в домашних архивах остались фотографии, медали и ордена. И воспоминания о невыносимых страданиях, о реках крови. Дедушки не говорили со мной о войне. Только став взрослой, я поняла почему - берегли меня, мою детскую психику. Иностранцы до сих пор не могут понять, почему мы так "носимся" с давно прошедшей войной. Да ведь это для нас - память о членах семьи! Представьте, у всей страны - большой день памяти. Мы молимся, плачем, гордимся и помним своих родных. Считайте, что это наш семейный день/праздник. По словам моих родных, переживших 9 мая 1945 года - это счастливейший, долгожданный, великий праздник. Люди ждали мир. И мы сейчас ждём и надеемся, что он воцарится в умах, сердцах и душах. Благословения и процветания всем.

Что значит "носимся"? Что значит "давно прошедшей"? Всего 78 лет прошло. Я что-то не вижу претензий к французам, котрые взятие Бастилии отмечают. Хотя Бастилия вообще не охранялась и взятие её прошло наредкость мирно. Но ничё, парадами маршируют каждый год 14 июля, и никого это почему-то не возмущает.

Sorry but USA was fighting alongside USSR/ Of course USA helped a lot with its landlease, food, soldiers. But WW2 was won by USSR and lost almost 21 mill people. I know in USA children are tought that USA won WW2. it was not. Many countries was included. But main figher was USSR

@@fibonaccigroup9480 you need to learn your history. Russia did lose the most men and win WW2 but with out America, Russia would have lost. Because of Amercia, The allies were able to take back and liberate western Europe which weakened Germany and the only reason Russia was able to keep fighting was because of the mass production of the US which gave Russia endless amounts of bullets, weapons, trucks, tanks, etc. Keep in mind Russia lost that many people due to lack of care for there own soldiers using them as meat shields and with the rule of no retreat which means if you were to start retreating, you were shot by your own general. Also stalin killed his own people in large amounts. Plus of course you are going to lose more men if the war is on your land. America was across the world lol what was Germany going to do? try to attack like the Japanese did? we all saw how that turned out for japan.

Было бы у вас время изготавливать столько пуль , еслиб не держали основные силы 4 года???. Мясные штурмы ??? Они сжигали нас толпами в собственных домах.
