Jemma, why I love following you is that I drive a large motorhome (8.8m) plus I tow a car behind it. For me, that's a long vehicle. I always find it an inspiration to see you going down all those country lanes in an HGV. Keep it up, it's really is interesting to watch. 🥰

Hi Jemma, i live in Calgary, Canada and i just watched this latest video which was as usual great to watch. You asked about the name Lucerne and over here it is the name of a company that produces dairy products such as milk, cheese and yogurt. Anyway they are a hugh company and may do buisness in europe and the UK. As you say your home is coming along quite well. All the best and keep on trucking. 😀

It's unfortunate that the delay in the quarry ruined your whole day. That's frustrating for sure. But at least the rest of your day went smoothly and you could even spend the night at home. The house renovation is progressing nicely, your home will be amazing when finished. The Alcoa gift package is very cool, you deserve such a nice present. Hi Jemma. Lucerne is a high protein crop. I think it is named after being first introduced to Europe at Lucerne in Switzerland. In some countries it's called Alfalfa. It is Legume like clover, peas and beans, meaning it has nodules on its roots that fix nitrogen, so it doesn't need extra artificial nitrogen fertiliser. I know Hanford Feeds, Dorchester (now MVF) used to grow and dry it there until the mid 90s when it became cheaper to buy imported.

Not the easiest of tasks, since cereals are hexaploids and consist of three different grass genomes in the same plant!

@@marcoperoni4735It requires a lot of sunshine & low lying land to grow. The Cotswolds at 1000ft are probably not the right place. Lots of it grown in the south of France though.

Look after yourself and remember to eat!! I did a delivery to a supermarket distribution centre. I had all the paperwork with lots of reference numbers on it. Unfortunately none were correct. Had to turn round and call the office and wait...... And wait....... And wait!! 🤣

It is something I’m so grateful to have. Ryan has just gone to measure the celling height……. It’s 2.3meters. Yes it’s not easy but in the long run it will be worth it ☺️

you should see how much time we lose when driving in the EU because of a missing digit on the paperwork.. I personally have sat for 28 hrs at a clearance depot but know of others that have sat for longer.

Your areas you tend to deliver to seem so much better. I did most of my work around east midlands, odd trip to machesters mills which are hell, quarries around buxton etc.

Lucerne is much higher in protein and calories than ordinary hay seeds. Commonly grown in Switzerland (where the name originated) and also Germany. Very few farms in the UK grow it. Unfortunately it is apparently cheaper to import it (like so many things). Love your videos btw Jemma. Thanks for sharing😊

You probably haven't got room on the truck but you can buy a good used compact folding bike for under £50 to save long walks, especially if it's raining. I guess the mirror lights are LED otherwise the ceiling could get very hot.

The name lucerne apparently comes from the first introductions into Europe which were established in Switzerland (Lake Luzern) while “alfalfa” means “good feed”.

It's so silly that drivers dont get reference numbers and everything up front. Any other industry, all orders have the exact same information but it seems like trucking can be hit and miss. Needs to be more organised industry-wide to prevent drivers wasting their time
