YES EVERY YEAR I GET THIS WITH THE WASPS .

I USE , SUGAR , VERY THICK SYRUP , HONEY . IN THE CONTAINER IS SUGAR

Is that just dry sugar at the bottom of the trap?

YES IT IS DRY SUGAR WITH A BIT OF BROWN SUGAR AT THE BOTTOM .

Get the hose pipe down there mate or do it the old fashioned way petrol n a match

IT CAN SOMETIMES . IT IS MAINLY WASPS GO FOR THE SUGAR. WASPS GO FOR RAW SUGAR TOO .

Looks like the top of a soda bottle cut off, then placed back upside down. Might be glued at the seams. Hard to tell.
